    Hi there!

I am making a basic website which will have many folders, each folder will contain about 7 pdf files. I have everything ready, the template and the folders I want to put. I have not bought a website domain yet, I am thinking of getting one from bluehost. Anyways, what happens when I buy webhosting? I mean, I have the folders for each of them but the problem is like there are 7-8 pdf files in each folder and about 200 folders. Will the webhosting company give me the links to the file and I will have to manually link each file or will they give me like an html coded page for each folder? It would be great if i could do it automatically. Another thing, how would one put an adsense advert on every page if every page is similar? I do not want to manually do it. Thank you!

The hosting company will give you hosting! You will need to make a website that works yourself, or outsource it.

I would suggest some research on how to create a website.

Firstly the webhost gives you nothing except for the space to store your files (and a few tools which I won't confuse you with yet)
Secondly pdf files are not web pages, they are document files which can be downloaded, viewed with a pdf reader or viewed in a web browser if set up to do so.

You have to build the website yourself and add the content you want on it, I would recommend having a look at wordpress which is fairly simple to learn.

You need a website before you can apply for adsense, once accepted you can then generate code to put on your website. Again I won't go into details because you need to learn to build a website first.

There are people who can create websites for a fee but you should really learn the basics or you will be spending way more than you will ever make.

Hiya, I can help you a bit. When you buy hosting, you are leasing space on their server for you to use (mostly) however you want. They provide you with a control panel (cpanel) to assign domain names you've bought to your account, and to generally manage everything. From there you could create email addresses to each of your domains, access file manager to upload to your domain directories, get FTP configurations, lots of things.
For the amount of uploading you have to do, you would use an FTP program for ease of use for so many files. You could basically multi-select every folder you wanted upload, and send it to the proper directory on your domain on Hostgator (for example).
But that is just for getting them onto the server so your domain can interact withthose files. Are you going to use wordpress to run your website, or are you going for HTML templates? Wordpress is easier for new folks, and very easy to customize. For instance, you would create a text widget and fill it with your adsense code, which would display your ads on every single page of your site, without having to enter each .pdf manually.
Either way, they first step is getting hosting. I use Hostgator, and have had zero problems for the last 2 years. Support is top notch too.
    Here's an affiliate link
    Code:
    http://bit.ly/1ngt5jn [URL]http://secure.hostgator.com/~affiliat/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=thub15[/URL]
Use the coupon code: Thub15Discount . It will save you $9.94 off of your first month of hosting.
    or non-affiliate http://www.hostgator.com
Either way, message me if you'd like some help, I was a rookie once before too!
    Cheers!

after you buy domain, you should go to your cpanel and do addondomain
that will make a folder for your domain and a ftp acc

have you uploaded your files to the host before you purchased domain?
if yes try to move them to your domain folder after you do addondomain

i have not worked with bluehost, but I assume that almost every host has any sort of cpanel

I hope someone with more knowledge and better english will help you here :)

When you purchase a Hosting on server, They give you space and provide you c-panel. Now inside c-panel you will see the options to install a Content Management System ( CMS) , for example WordPress, Joomla etc. The most famous now a days is WordPress so I would recommend you to install it. Once Installed you need some online tutorials and that's it. your website is up and good to go live..

Hi sturose, thanks for the reply! I have used httracker to rip a very similar site, it is very basic. It is just a few link(folders) and each folder has a few links to a pdf file. So I basically have all of the website already completed, except I want to remove their folders and my new ones. From what I understand is that the webhost will provide a link to a file I upload so for example for the one pdf file the link provided is "website-link" will I have to manually go into my code and for each folder and fcreate an html page and link the piece of text ( pdf file 1) using <a href="websitel-link">pdf file 1</a> for each an every file? I asked someone (not someone who is that trustable) and they said that the hosting will provide the html code with all of the links and I will simply have to copy and paste this into each folder ( not a problem but I doubt all of this will be done) I was just wondering since, my website will only get traffic for specific times of the year so if I can't get it up soon, I'd rather wait till the next time of the year then have it done. Thanks again :)

Hi there, I will be using html ( I know basics of html and I use dreamweaver) but I have ripped a very similar website which is made on sourceforge and all I want to do is replace the files with my ones and link them. I have heard that hostgator is good but it is very slow if you get traffic, is this true? There is a chat at bluehost and I talked to them many times for 30 mins each time and they were very good generally. I actually went to buy it but my card was rejected( It is a credit and My bank said that it doesn't allow me to buy online with that type of account) Thanks so much!
