So my channel was recently demonetized. However with my MCN I have worked up a deal that I would use music copyrighted by them and they would claim my videos and then we would split the ad-revenue.

Now, does this actually work? I don't know if this violates YouTube's terms of service but I was told to stay pretty quiet about it just in case so I don't risk getting terminated. Has anyone tried something similar and do I have risk getting myself terminated if I do this?

I have never heard of a scenario like this before.

There is no limit that I'm aware of in terms of copyright claims on music as long as the right's holder has given permission for UGC within the Content ID system.

The question is if your MCN really does own the master recordings and whether they actually have the rights to the music like they claim they do.

There is a lot of murkiness surrounding artists giving a creative commons license on their music, tons of creators use the music, and then like 5 years later those same recordings enter Content ID and claims start being sent out en masse. I don't know if your MCN is just snatching up creative commons songs and then passing them off as if they own it in Content ID, which by the way, there has been a ton of abuse of Content ID so nothing is really out of the question there.

Anyways, I guess bottom line, I don't know the answer to your question without more information.

I am fairly sure they own the recordings because they told me they specifically commissioned the songs for my channel and I have no reason to doubt them in that case. My channel will make very good money for both of us so i also don't see why the MCN would want to risk me getting terminated, however I'm still a bit worried.

Another thing I have in my mind is that should I just make/commission a song on my own and use that to claim my own videos? As of now the revenue share is pretty bad for me and by claiming the videos on my own I would get all the money and I would (I assume) eliminate all of the threat of being terminated. However, I have no experience doing any of that, are there any guides etc. related to the issue?

Much appreciated!

This works PM me tho. Why split with your MCN. They shouldnt get anything its your channel . I'll show you how to get 100% . They probably taek what 15%. I'm also interested in this. Same thing happened to me and now I'm giving 20 percent to Tunecore. How can you help?

On mY channel, it says I need to share the revenue with the copyright owner.

O yes. anything to share, I would really appreciate it

I bought a track on Fiver from ghost producer and licenced it via Tunecore. Now I have claim on my videos whenever I use this track. Tunecore monetizes the entire video and we share the revenue. They take 20 percent I take 80 percent. The payment happens quarterly but anyway, it's still better then 0. And my views grew up by 30 percent since demonetization I would be so happy if I'm monetized but what can you do...

Theres no point in using music outside of the YT collection, you never know when some jackass will claim copyrights on you in the future.

This is one of the many avenues I'm considering for my channel down the line, be sure to update us with the progress/results.
