Buying Jr VIP for someone else?

I figured that there is not much point in paying for Jr VIP and premium membership for myself at the same time. I don't want to stop supporting the forum with those contributions though so instead of getting both for myself I'm going to renew the Jr VIP and pay for someone else to get it too.

My renewal is up on the 20th for my premium membership so I have stopped the auto pay on that and want to help someone become Jr VIP instead. How do I do that, can I just pay and put someone else username in and not my own? Is that allowed?

Any help from a member that knows about this would be appreciated.

I'll start a new thread in the lounge in a few days if I am allowed to do this where people can nominate themselves or others to be considered and then Ill pay for the chosen accounts upgrade.

Sort of a good point. I see where you are going with it but what would it cause to be unsafe, whoever is getting upgraded could pay themselves and I assume they would have to qualify like anyone else would have to.
 
Normally a contest like this is not allowed - because giveaways have to be done on a first come first serve basis. However, I know people have done this before, so it might be possible. Best thing will be to wait for a full mod or admin to chip in here and give a definitive answer. PS, nice gesture by the way :-)
 
Seem to remember this was done for someone else as a present, I cannot see it being an issue as long as the member meets the criteria for Jnr VIP.

I have seen the Jr. VIP giveaway threads in BHW before. I guess you need to talk to the Admins first.

Please contact an Admin to get approval and to get the process in which you want to award the Jr Vip to someone approved.

That's why I hope I can join your contest lol. I saw people give JRvip before, from Sheb I think maybe wrong and a guys named 777 got that lol. I much envy at that time.

lol! Well I was thinking more of a nomination thread running for a day or two so that people wont feel like they have to ask and the upshot is someone deserving gets it too and not the person that can shout the loudest.

@gman777 had his Jr. VIP paid for by a collaborative group of people. He actually hasn't been active on here in several months, but at the time was well deserving of it, that's all I can say on that part.

It resulted in some incredible threads, as well as contributions of other members, to the point where three members were awarded Jr. VIP status, thanks to generous donations from @Leith and an anonymous third benefactor. Those three members were: @kickthat, @Ozzyzig and @sturose, all three of whom have been extremely solid members to this day.

For the life of me I can't find the other one I did, but there was another. Provided you contact admins beforehand, this is always an awesome idea to give back not only to BHW, but also to a member who otherwise would not have access to the Jr. VIP section. Heck, with sig sales alone, your $97 investment in someone could easily make them another $500 or more over the course of that year.

@William702 , this is a genuinely nice thing you're doing, so props to you for doing that. As @Sherb mentioned, I was one of the lucky three that won a membership for a year thanks to the generosity of both him and @Leith as well as the third person who donated to the cause who wishes to be anonymous. To the three of you, I'm still extremely grateful for the kind generosity you extended to @kickthat @sturose and myself.

No doubt there's going to be a lot of interest in any competition that's run, which should bring in even more interesting methods for those that are new to 'the life' as well as showing the more experienced ones a few handy twists.
