BREAKING: Ebay has dumped Paypal

The longer term issue is eBay is nothing like it was 10-15 years ago, and removing the Paypal option is not enough to change that trend. It used to be a convenient portal to buy or sell (often) used stuff, and even digital items with few or no expenses. Now the complications and higher expectations (for new items) dominates the site, and no longer makes it a small IM-friendly place.

Might be a start honestly. Now smaller marketplaces should follow the trend and realize that they'll have better margins if they cut PP out. Grailed, etsy, gumroad, stockx etc. these are all huge companies who rely heavily on PP.

Although I do know in the US it's hard to cut out PP. When I ran my ecom stores back in the day, I would increase CVR by 0.5-1% just by adding PayPal. That tells you something...
I wouldn't worry about PayPal much. This pandemic came to the rescue of e-commerce, not that it was dying before that. Actually PayPal is growing beyond expectations. $1 trillion payment volume, 55M new users, 20% revenue climb is projected for 2021. In the first 3 months of the year they added 14.5M new users, revenue went up by 29%, the total payment volume increased by 50%. Mind blown.

Just started using Paypal or what? It has always been like this with Paypal in India. You don't have a paypal balance in India as paypal auto withdraws the money to your bank account. This is because a company needs a banking license in India to hold someone's funds and they were not willing to get involved in the bureaucracy to get a banking license and other miles long paper trail that comes with it, so they chose the easy way out.

Paypal even stopped it's payment solutions within India as it didn't make sense for someone to use them when there are better payment solutions within India.

I have been using PayPal since 2007. Earlier I used to hold the USD and spent it for my USD purchases. Now it's compulsory withdrawal and then when we spend from INR to USD there is another conversion charges.

Yeah paypal is not going anywere soon.
They growing because they leaving Ebay, but we stealthier face a hard time with mp . it is game over for ebay stealth, as much as we hated PayPal and dreaded 180 days it was better for ebayers.

That's a good thing for seller(s), a lot of scammers were taking advantage of paypal buyer protection.
Hope Paypal goes bunkrupt one day.

I just wish there was a big competitor to Paypal. It's honestly dog shit
^^^ THIS in all caps.

My Paypal here is fine but the cases of fake refunds I have seen in Paypal is astounding. I don't want to name this company, but it is the second-largest brand in the USA in a specific physical product niche (that I used to sell a lot earlier, and being by far the highest-selling affiliate I was a great friend and still am with one of the two co-owners of that company). They had sold 10+ high-priced items to a "bulk buyer", which was $30,000+ in gross. They had everything including shipping receipts from physical delivery companies and so on. The product is solid, I know very well because I sold it a lot, and the refund rates were practically zero and lots of my customers had very positive things to say about the product. Perhaps it is clear from my post, it is a high ticket item. This customer simply asked Paypal to refund, and this dog sh*t of a company didn't bother to even check/speak with my friend's company, let alone examine the documents. The customer didn't even try to return the items. So here was this company, lost both their money and merchandise.

Paypal refunded $30,000+ to this customer, without even lifting a phone or emailing to the seller. Can you believe this?!!!!!!!!!!!

They stopped using Paypal.

And this is a big-enough brand that many of you would recognize if I named it. Obviously I would stay anonymous here as far as the brand is concerned. But the reaction you would perhaps have, if I had named the company, would be "What?!!!"... It is well-known enough.

Good thing as paypal stole funds of millions of sellers

I had an old U.K. stealth account and just added a bank account to it with no problem.

Only took eBay like 15 years to develop its own payments system.

Wow, thanks for the info. I have missed the news... What did they say, what's the reason. Thanks!!

So now eBay will have all the control over what happens. Not good! It's not that I'm PayPal fan either. We need more competition in the marketplace not less.

PayPal is such an asshole company, man.
This is a good turn

They have been doing this for a while.
Buyers can still pay with PayPal if they wish. It gets processed by another company then you get paid into your bank a couple of days later.
What does this mean for how they handle chargebacks?
