Blog/Website for keyword without competition

Hello everyone!

This is my first message in this wonderful website. I have been reading a lot and, since I am a complete newbie, and I think I still need some (or several) advices, if you don't mind. (Sorry for my English, I am not native)

The thing is that my brother is about to finish a book with a title that, when we search it in google, it only has 2.500 results. I think that it must be "easy" to get number 1 in google rank, so I want to do a website/blog about it in order that he can sell it more and we can win a little of money with ads. Could you tell me any advice for that situation where I don't have competition for a keyword? We wouldn't like to see other website better ranked than us taking into account that he was the one who did the effort. I have read a little about SEO and I am starting to understand a LITTLE about it. I have a blog in weebly and I guess that I will use a subdomain for that purpose. About backlinks, are they very important in this situation? Anything else to take account than the little SEO that I can do?

With backlinks, the importance to this is kinda yes and no. It used to be very important because the more backlinks you have suggest that your site is more important and are recommended by people so you get ranked higher. For many thinks that backlinks are not and is a scam just show how much they don't know but now if someone say you can get ranked high in Google with just backlink it's not true because Google have given birth to a little critter called Panda and this little critter don't like backlink...

Well not that much because it like more than just backlink it likes your website to be SEO optimized and you site is shared around through Social Media Network. The power of Social Media Network is so important that Google will not overlook a site that's like by many on any Social Media Network.

So yes it's important but it will only get you a bit far you have to do more to get your website to the top and how you do that you can find out more on this forum there are thread that tells you on how to do this.

Thank you for your reply and for your welcome! About you first sentence, I really don't understand what are you talking about (as I said, I am a completely newbie haha), so could you tell me about the "social media network" thing? :)

I will suggest you, make a good web site with sale latter theme and put nice video and promte that, also you can sale via amazon, ebay, cj, and use good affiliate network.

quality content is still important.
It helps to save cost on advertisement when someone refers your site for free.
Go long term in everything you do, and you will be able to sleep soundly every night.
 
If the kw is low competition, you can just create a quality page from a template, link it from a legit Twitter tweet and perhaps Facebook and watch where it ranks after 2 to 3 weeks. You may be surprised to see it ranking at the top. Don't do any aggressive SEO at the beginning.
