The html, content, sitemap, internal/back links … Yes, all these and more, yet it’s certainly not quantity. Rubbish in produces rubbish out. President Trump could start a website with one small badly written article and it would go viral overnight.
Search engine optimization means preparing your site and content in a manner that can be read by bots. If they can’t read it, it’s going nowhere. Links on the other hand will ensure it retains its popularity for a while, but even that will decline over time as new content replaces it.
Can you imagine writing the best article ever on the effects of the Corona virus? It goes viral, a million links and views in a month, picked up by Reuters … The day after the pandemic ends its history and the economic effects of the virus will take its place. That’s sort of how it works.
