Best Web Platform for creating e-commerce site?

Hi Guys,

What do you think is the best platform for creating an E-commerce website?

Joomla? Wordpress? Drupal?

I would choose Wordpress + Woocommerce.
Many plugins,
daily updates,
fast support,
many themes/plugins.

It has its bad sides though:
many bugs,
you have to know how how to use wordpress, woocommerce, shortcodes
Often you can't find theme which suits your needs
Shittiy coding
Vulnerable to attacks and sqli

You can also choose OpenCart, I hear good things about it.
 
How many SKU's are you looking to add to your store? Are there any features that you require specifically?

I think around 200 every month. I just need some platform that is very simple and easy to manage.
 
OpenCart is a good option to start with. It's free and can be customised with ease with a just a tiny bit of research.

As your store starts to grow in size, in my opinion, Magento should be your choice. It's power hungry, needs a well optimised server but it's the best open source e-commerce platform out there. It has powerful SEO options built in, it's easy to manage and handles lots of SKU's without any trouble.
 
At start you could use Opencart or Prestashop. If you don't know coding, Opencart will be cheaper to maintain. On the other hand, Prestashop has very logicaly structured code and is a "beauty".
What I do not like about Prestashop is that it uses Smarty as template engine, while other platforms just use PHP.
Cs-Cart is another option, I heard that in Germany most of the online shops use it.
If you want Magento you need a dedicated server. Don't even think about shared hosting with it.
 
WooCommerce if you know about building sites but haven't necessarily done much in terms of PHP etc.. yet

Magento if you have past experience and coding knowledge.

Shopify if you're a complete noob to site design/dev.
 
If you are looking for an all in one solution, I would recommend Bigcommerce
