Best niches for writers?

What is your experience in getting more clients for a particular niche? I mean, which niche has a great scope in writing articles and blogs overall?

Market research is best done getting your hands dirty.

Peruse the hire a freelancer and want to buy threads and see what people are asking for in terms of niche content requests.

You'll need to take notes and would probably be best served with an excel sheet with columns for each niche and see what are the most frequently asked niches as to hiring content writers.

Anything less than that is going to put you in a place where you have no hands on data and hands on data trumps almost any other kind of data most of the time.

Fun fact: Leon Hess, the man who started Hess Oil in the USA (I knew him), would sit on a corner in his car and count cars before building a gas station to make sure the car count was sufficient for him to spend the money to build a station and he was stupid rich but still did the grunt work.

The only particularly enjoyable and especially well-paying segment of content writing is copywriting traditional sales funnels (not best-of articles). However, it's also pretty rare to get those as most people are not product makers but product hawkers. Outside of that, it's all boring shit and typically you are being paid because the person paying you now makes enough to not spend his time scraping his nails on a chalkboard writing his 50th best vacuum cleaners article. The best skill as a writer is to be able to apply your ass to the chair. What is required of you will change each day, and really the only skill you must have is the ability to sit down and work long hours on disgustingly boring content (see vacuum cleaners).

I've probably written the same article in about 10 different flavors. The good side is that as you progress through clients and spend the odd time researching for particularly difficult topics, you will find yourself not having to research for those topics later and just being able to spit it out from memory. The goal as a writer is to keep increasing your prices until you don't want to kill yourself each day and still make a decent amount of money. As you charge more, your clients will decrease but your quality of life will increase and the pay will balance out (to a point).

It isn't as easy as charging "what you're worth" as a lot of writers suggest, though. What you think you're worth doesn't mean shit. It's all about what you've proven you're worth. So if I had to add a second skill other than apply-ass-to-chair, I would say that one of your best returns would be learning to write convincing case studies so you can convince your potential clients that you're worth more than a penny per word.

There is a huge difference when you say the best niche for writers. It depends if you mean for freelancers or making their own blogs.

For example, the more technical and academic, the more profitable it is for freelance writers, as well if you have a solid client base already.

For blogs and Amazon affiliate sites, it really depends on your market research.

The most important part is that you somewhat specialize and become good at it.

In my experience, there’s a lot of work to be found in the health and beauty niches. But really, if you’re lucky enough to find a regular client, any niche can be profitable. You can get some clients in the automotive niche that are really good, some in the pet niche as well. Electronics are great too, if you find a client that has an Amazon Affiliate site and needs a lot of content. Basically, you just have to figure it out for yourself. If you provide a great service, you’ll get returning clients, which will make your freelancing career way easier, and it will allow you to specialize.

I think best niches for writers are sales pages, long from blog posts, video scripts, and white papers. This is the most important niches for writers.
