Being rich in the 3rd world

Most countries mentioned here are developing countries and not third World. Brazil and Thailand in particular are two of the richest countries of the World.
Living in poorer countries has more benefits than disadvantages. Do your banking and money affairs in a safe heaven like Panama or Singapore and just keep 3 month of budget in a local bank account so nobody knows how much your make. Don't show off with your valueables and don't look down at people and you will have nothing to fear.
If you pick a counry with territorial tax regime and structure your income in a smart way, you won't even need to pay taxes.

Some countries are also behind in the internet so the laws haven't caught up. So that means you won't get taxed on internet earnings (in some countries). Brazil might be one of those countries (not sure).

You also have to let go of your U.S. citizenship because the IRS will still tax you despite living outside the country (fucked up law eh?).

Well I'm Mexican, I study in the US, I lived in China, I lived in Poland and I traveled all over South America so I know what I'm talking about. There's definitely nothing better than being rich in a poor country. The only way to really be happy, though, is to be a native of that place. Locals naturally hate foreigners.

I know that this is a dead thread that has been randomly revived, but this is absolutely correct. I'm from a non-poor country and have been living in the 3rd world for way too long. It was great at first--everything is cheap, the world is my playground, but it's a lonely life. You will always be on the outside looking in.

Almost all expats return to their home country within a few years after they realize that it's not the paradise they thought it would be. And honestly the ones that don't seem incredibly naive and blind.

Naive? How so?

If you live in the 3rd world... you don't have a computer with which you can make to do blackhat...

thats true, in asian countries specially in middleast, india, pakistan, bangladesh if you have some money a car and a house, you being to think like fedudels :)

Only way I'd live in a 3rd world country is with a 24 hour security entourage. I've read a lot in this thread about its ok to live in a third world as long as you don't flaunt your wealth and show off. To me, there's no point in that. I'd prefer to live in a generally "safer" environment, instead of worrying every two minutes about getting clipped by some street thug looking for a hand out. I use the term "safe" VERY loosely btw, and most of the time even in a first world country, i still go most places with my entourage (not security, just close friends)

Ever heard of eastern countries?? People live one full month in 200$ and black money is so high some of them earn 1 lac $ per day or per month.. But the wealth is not equally distributed.

Isn't it cheaper in the long run to just get in shape by working out and changing your diet,so that you can hook up with hot women for free?

It's how you structure your income. You will be taxable if you live in a country for your income, but if you form offshore corporations and leave your income outside of the country you reside in, you may be able to avoid taxes, legally. It's not that difficult at all, but you will need to make significant profit to make it worthwhile. Otherwise you are cheating. While chances are slim to get caught, don't count on it to last long. They do track ATM withdrawals and immigrations are keen on pulling people to the sidelines and asking them tricky questions from time to time. They don't need laws for that: they just do what they think needs to be done and one has no way of defense. They can put people away for years without any reason. Lot's of books have been written about innocent foreigners being jailed in Brazil for years.

Sounds like you're in Yugoslavia.... maybe not?

The only reason I ask is because I saw a vid on YT about that bastard who rules over Yugoslavia and his entire police force was Cayennes, 5 series, S classes. Then for personal leisure he has the Lambo Reventon that was paid for by the country's tax dollars of course. Did I mention this twat has a Rolls drophead and a F430? Let me find the vid...

I was reading about the guy and thought he was pretty cool till I got to the section where he believes in honor killings since he thinks women are property. He needs to get ass kicked for wanting women to be killed for no reason. I cant believe its the year 2012, and there's still retards out there that believe in honor killings.

having lived in multiple latin american 3rd world countries after leaving the u.s. i have to disagree with most of what i'm hearing. these countries all have strong expat communities, great/cheap health care, english spoken everywhere, first class food. i mean, lets put it this way - i made 150k per year or so in the u.s. before real estate tanked. here in the south i make only 24k online per year and my standard of living is much much higher than it was in the states. maids, massues (professional), huge parties, i work four hours per day, no phone, no bills, no reason to own a car - taxis are cheap and everywhere. there are many people like me here and the only thing we all have in common is that we never want to go home again, yup, all of our shitholes have wireless high speed internet, hbo and everything else.
