Beginner Question: Blog Date Updates

Hi all - when updating old content on my blog for freshness, is it generally better to update the posting date as well, or to stick to the old one? For context, I have a post entitled somethingsomething 2023 Edition - and am updating it for 2024, so I'm curious as to whether the original publishing date from November 2023 should be amended to 10 Jan 2024, for example.

Thank you for your help & my apologies if this is not the correct place to ask.

The content update frequently is an appreciatable thing, It's looks like your blog fresh and Unique to others, But I request to don't change the Publishing date for the Past, Just mention to your Updated Date of content in the article.

Some WP plugins help to show your updated date in the main article page.

I see - so one should state something like 'Updated January 2024' in the header?
