My competitor has nearly 2 k referring domains but i cant say which are his own which are spam which are original.How to identify the domains from where he is getting power?How to identify his PBN sites?

Hi OP,

You can check the competitor's backlinks and its domain lists from the tools like Semrush, Ahref and Link-assistant
There are some tools available pick the spammy links of a domain. But I don't think it will give the accurate info. You can not tell the amount of link power by seeing the domain itself. You have to analyse those domains to figure it out which one is giving the real power and which ones are spammy.

Tools will only give you a list of backlinks, if you want to find the powerful ones you will need to search manually.

I use Ahrefs to get a list of all the competitor's backlinks, sort by do follow and highest DR, and then start going through them manually. You usually find the best links have the highest DR, although you still have to check.

Depending on how well the PBNs set up, even just checking anchors via Ahrefs can reveal plenty.

I am sure that there is no tool which give the exactly spammy links. the tools are mostly used to get the list of back links the website got,to find the domains which is giving more power we need to check manually. you can filter the list with some metrics to find the power sites

Ahref is giving me the list but how will you differenciate the original and spammy ones
See UR/DR values for every single backlink of competitor in ahrefs.
The ones with low values are possibly spammy OR useless links, just ignore them.
For PBN watch, you need to visit each backIink and get it there.

To identify PBN site of your competitor, you can use Paid SEO tools like Ahref, SEMRush and Majestic. Some competitors hide their PBN, then you can use google search, just type their url in google "http://www.your-competitor.com", there always instances that they use full URL as anchor text in their PBN

Monitor backlinks tool will help you to get some ideas.
Try that tool and also you have to analyse by your own to know the effects of the links.
For an example, If your ranking drops check on the search console for which page there is a change.
Like those, you have to analyse your competitors too.

thanks buddy. I want to know if majestic alone can be used to analyse expired domain backlinks.

there is no real good way to automate that part; you have to check links manually one by one; first select 1 link per domain and select do follow links only; rank them either by DR or UR;
if there are too many start with the top ones on each page, scroll down and click on what catches your attention, so you get a feeling for what is going on; you can also check more recent or older ones to have an idea of the history;
also as was said look at anchors, this often tells a lot; play with the tool to gain a deeper understanding.

+1 for ahrefs
