I am just wondering if backings are still an important part of seo 2016. Some means it's not anymore other says it is.

So what's right?

Yes, backlinks are still important but everything is depend on quality rather than quantity,
 
Seriously ? Just about a l your freaking out?

Sure...I don't want my backlinks together with links to any gambling or adult sites. Quality is important. But put google still as much weight into backlinks as two years ago?

To find something really helpful in this topic is pretty hard. Leastways I haven't found something useful

There is like a thousand articles on "how to do seo in 2016". Obviously no one has the exact answer, the factors change over time but backlinks are still important, they just arent a golden goose.

Don't worry about what weighs the most, the best strategy is to focus on quality across the board. That is after all what the algoritm strives for, quality that creates engagement and serves a purpose.
 
Right, back links are very important but everything is depend on quality more then quantity.
 
Backlinks are most important in any SEO process.
Because without Backlinks it is hard to get ranking in a short time and your site will not get popular.
And also the backlinks should be in good quality.Otherwise ,it will let you down in ranking.

Backlinks are only second to back bacon but I am Canadian and a wee bit biased
