Attention to any CPI services who are selling you installs here and on other websites.
They are using mechanism "cash reward application". It's simple, they have apps in Google Play and can offer cash reward (few cent) to user for just installing your application, review and rate. Probably, nothing wrong with that instead Google can easily detect them.
I've figured out how this detection works. If you are some normal user, your install rate is usualy some max 5-10 app downloads / day and maybe 1:100 rating and 1:1000 review. Users who are doing installs and reviews for cash, have 50-100 apps / day and near 100% rating/review rate. I've used one app like this to earn some money from affiliate networks. I've lost account with 90% networks because insane install rate.
To make sure, I've tested normal review exchange on social fanpages where users can exchange reviews. Suprise! They deleted also such reviews. Why? Google can detect if you are installing apps only for reviews. It's not natural rate when you install>review, install>review, install>review again and again.

What about CPI companies:
-bought ayetstudio 1000 - lost all installs next day
-cpimobi 1000 - lost all after 3 days
it's bot, app has not opened even single one
-buyappinstall - lost all + lost app next day
-keyapptop - yes, they have promotion here, bought 500 and lost all installs. In addition, we've analyzed Google Play website for injecting javascript (blackhat methods from my book) and there is no mechanism to track keyword installs, there is no code in user layer anywhere. Maybe it's possible somewhere in background but I don't see any proof for keyword installs working. I don't know also how it should work. How they tell users "find app with icon xxx" in top 200 with keyword "zzz" and install. It's very hard to do incentive installs in normal cash reward app. I have some signals from my friend that their service is just a bot. If their representative will come here, don't listen unless he can proof technical issues. They have sales people only everywhere but we are developers, not idiots.

I cannot proof that I've lost these installs. They just vanished from console and stats. I want to warn all potential buyers. Your cash, decide ;)

Hovewer:
I can advice you to buy installs on Facebook Ads, Appbrain, Admob, Mobfox because these websites are not incentive. Users installs your app because they are interested to app, not some few cents reward.

Here is some info about it:

We strive to continuously make Google Play the best platform for enjoying and discovering the most innovative and trusted apps. Today we are announcing additional enhancements to protect the integrity of the store.

Our teams work every day to improve the quality of our discovery systems. These content discovery systems ensure that users can find and download apps they will love. From time to time, we observe instances of developers attempting to manipulate the placement of their apps through illegitimate means like fraudulent installs, fake reviews, and incentivized ratings. These attempts not only violate the Google Play Developer Policy, but also harm our community of developers by hindering their chances of being discovered or recommended through our systems. Ultimately, they put the end users at risk of making wrong decisions based on inaccurate, unauthentic information.

Today we are rolling out improved detection and filtering systems to combat such manipulation attempts. If an install is conducted with the intention to manipulate an app's placement on Google Play, our systems will detect and filter it. Furthermore, developers who continue to exhibit such behaviors could have their apps taken down from Google Play.

In the vast majority of cases, no action will be needed. If you are asking someone else to promote your app (e.g., third-party marketing agency), we advise you to make sure that the promotion is based on legitimate practices. In case of questions, please check out the Developer Support Resources.

These important changes will help protect the integrity of Google Play, our developer community, and ultimately our end user. Thank you for your support in building the world's most trusted store for apps and games!"

I can't agree with this statement, course recently we have analysed result and realized that CPI model gives us more income.
Some people tend to lobby these CPM and CPC models, but it’s not the case of successful story. The CPI model is less transparent, but it gives better rate and it is much easier to work with it, besides everything depends solely on assessing the quality of traffic.

Ok, it's just warning only ;) Try to load your cash to cpimobi, keyapptop, ayetstudios and tell me what you have after 3 days ;)
I don't know when you tried these services because they were very good...half year ago. I've tested them few weeks ago and lost all installs, accident?

@vinku Good information. Thanks for sharing. I wonder how installs coming from CPA sites like ogads work? Have you tried this?

Great share. In 2016 I using CPI (paid like cpimobi) but only need 1 week before the stat is lose and sometimes make my app suspended from play store. Using appbain too but the cpi cost to expensive for me. So, still find other way to increase app install.

Has anyone tried www.appatic.io?

I bought around 500 keyword installs, and ranked for that keyword. It worked well but after 20-25 days, my position for that keyword dropped a bit.

Do I have to keep feeding my app with kw installs to keep my position?

I've tested, nothing special but installs stays

I work with KeyApp.Top for keyword installs and I get some positions in the word rank.

I think the only one who actually made a good use of the CPI was the flappybird guy, after that it got patched xD

Which CPI network do you suggest?
Please share your experience.

Cant agree !!!
I have used few CPI services, their retention is 100%. Which means app never get uninstalled. Which is a red flag.
But it negates your cash reward application formula.
Cash reward application can't be sustained. Because if CPI services can provide 100,000 installs to an app in 1 month. Can this CPI service send small payments to those 100,000 users every month. Is it even possible? The answer is no.
Every low priced CPI service provider is using auto scripts/bots to provide installs.
Both cash reward application and bot, are highly risky.

Does anyone have any experience with geo targeted cpi's? (I'm trying to promote apps in specific countries with non-english keywords)
I'll happily pay premium per install if I know it's legit and with high credibility (real users, low install rate, ability to affect their behavioral etc). Is there such a service or am I living in a fantasy land?:)

App installs do no work. I have wasted a lot of money with different networks and companies and it is not worth your money. Focus on ASO and social media.

What do you mean ASO and social media?
ASO = onpage+"in-app"? As in, title/description/engagement?
and social? what, in social? you mean conventional promotion?
