I think Keyword install give well result. But I also agree with you that should try Facebook Ads, Adword, Instagram Ads ,... to make real user install app, and of course will get real review never deleted by Google Play.

Normally app retention is horrible, but app retention with fake / incent installs is VERY HORRIBLE

A lot of depends on your keyword organic traffic, for new app I'd recommend to start from 50-150 keyword installs daily during 3-4 days and then see the result, and adjust your daily quantity.
