How is your keyword density for your primary keyword as it is compared to your competitors? also what about semantic word usage?

My articles that are focused on commercial or brand keywords lost rankings. On their place are multiple pages from big commercial/brand websites.

My how-to articles and tutorials that don't focus on a single product or brand were not affected.

This might be a sign that Google is starting to push out affiliates and small publishers in favor of big business and media.
 
The more crap on top the most conversions google will have with ads .

Searchin with google is a pain in the ass, what yo get first is a list of image ads then text adds then videos and more suggested images to make you click images and in images tab on top again more ads.

So if a users scrolls down and what they see is not interesting and is looking to buy ...
 
got rankings update, another RED day, totally getting hammered in. Next steps, wait for the update to finish, analyse what's working and rework the website

Google wants us to spend more money on Adwords!! Small businesses are ruined because Google is favoring big ones.

Seeing the same thing.

Articles on things like 4x4's or ATV reviews or recommendations are gone from the front page, replaced with manufacturers or massive websites with short fluff articles.

My articles on topics like how to tune up an ATV are mostly stable.
 
Here are my 2 cents on what I felt happened

Google launched BERT update

NYT Got hit badly

To rectify instead of reversing BERT update, Google tweaks Algo to give more weightage to Domain Authority as compared to relevance

Result: Big Authority domains get a huge boost and Less Authority but Focussed Niche sites get dumped

Ya there are definitely some signs here. At my current gig, we don't have a ton of traffic and our site is pretty new, so I don't see a massive change, but talking to some bigger Q&A sites, they aren't seeing the change as much either. I think it is still rolling out, personally. Whenever Google says 10% of queries are impacted that is a pretty massive change. I bet it takes weeks before we fully see the impact.
 
For some, my site was hit at least 30% and everything was whitehat and now it's slowing starting to come back. I hope it will stay like this.
 
I have an EMD for lead generation with no content on the page other than a form and a logo

It doesn't have any backlinks

It's ranking number 1 for a good keyword and there are competitor inner pages with better content on pos 2 and 3

Haven't done any work on the site in about 2 years lol

It definitely should not be there and google hasn't even downranked me yet

Yeah.. from 100k pageviews per day to 1k
Invest hundred dollars.. now nowhere to be found in ranking, first page full of twitter page hastag & parasite backlinks
 
Is the update still rolling out does anyone know? I have always felt the results were getting worse after every update, but I have to say this is the worst I have seen it. We have google books ranking in the adult section now as well as metro newspaper and cosmopolitan, hashtags galore and so on???? I could go on and on. What an absolute shambles.
 
My websites are acting weird. One time it shows on 3rd position the other time it shows on 18th. This is happening from last 3 days now. Anyone else experiencing the same?
