When any link is posted on Reddit, it is marked as nofollow by the search engines and Reddit does not take it into consideration for its algorithm. However, if a link gets a certain number of upvotes, it is considered as ********. But, only the upvotes don't define a link on Reddit, there is an evolved algorithm also, which defines the backlinks on Reddit.

You are correct as upvotes are Jett the only factor for a do-follow link on reddit, but it affects positively a Link from reddit

I've had great experiences with some niche reddit posts, but only after 9-10 upvotes or so. To be honest if the quality of the post is terrible it can hurt since the DA can outrank new websites without a bigger backlink profile.
