Are article marketing are dead?

Hi all BHW members,

I just want to ask your opinion or suggestion regarding article marketing. Are writing, spun and submit articles to article directories still applicable for nowadays IM business? . Well, the reason i'm submitting articles are for link building. I heard that article submission is waste of time to be applied at present. If so, care to share any method replacing this article submission technique. BTW ,I already know about guest blogging method.

right now everything seems to be about web2.0s as far as content creation goes so if you are wanting to spend time writing articles write them for web2.0s (tumblr, squidoo, etc..)
 
Articles are still the meat 'n potatoes of SEO. The only new thing in town is videos becoming more and more accessible and text-like(people are posting videos instead of blog posts).
 
I would reiterate that people are moving towards Web 2.0's over the traditional article directories such ezine and goarticles which have fallen in popularity. Again its probably preferable to use original content for tier ones, though manual readable well spun content should be fine. Also people have begun spinning videos within articles which makes for a nice twist.

Article marketing isn't dead some of the very popular article directories aren't the way to go anymore though.
 
IMHO I would not invest time anymore on content creation just to "spread the voice" here and there. I mean: I would not write anymore in squidoo, tumblr, etc neither.

I would focus on creating long/detailed/focused/appropriate content on MY OWN properties, then trying to give the crowd visiting me a reason to share my content.

if you want learn article marketing, i recommended you search on WF username (1) Alexa Smith and (2) myob. They are gurus of article marketing (at least thats what i feel).

you can google one of Alexa's post with this query (i cant give any links yet)

be sure to replace WF with its abbreviation, and make it exact search (including the bracket symbol)

Alexa Smith(who is actually a middle aged man) and a number of gurus on the wafo have been pushing article marketing for years and none of them when put on the spot can show results...either traffic or earnings. Im sure all seo still works but seems labour intensive to me.

Article marketing for SEO (submitting to EZA et al, or now to Web 2.0 sites) is not what those properties were designed for. Directories were an earlier generation's solution for quickly syndicating one's content ('you can post my article and link on your related site, so you get free content, I get a relevant backlink').

The point is to use that to get direct link-through traffic or direct visitors from related sites, not ranking traffic or indirect visitors from the search engines. Use the better directories as they were intended, for syndication and viral traffic generation, and you won't be frustrated by their failure to work optimally for SEO purposes.
 
It is little bit true because video links are more effective in the present SEO than the article or content submission.

BTW, that is exactly what I think... I am always trying to persuade my clients to write on THEIR own blogs and not on social networks... unfortunately they are spending hours elsewhere and - at the end of the month - their traffic counter is a flat line... and they keep asking me why :p
 
I've actually been wondering about this too, as a copywriter it impacts my business and my strategy so naturally my ears are perked forward. I suppose I should get into making videos and things too, if only for diversification purposes!
 
Jesus, the only people who say article directories are well and alive are the idiots from Warrior Forum, most notably the male posing as Alexa Smith on WF (yes, this dude steals pictures from porn sites and makes it pass as his avatar LOL).

Forget about article directories, 99% of the people using them are spammers who will delete your links before spinning your article.
