I have 50 sites with 100% DUPLICATE content. They were not penalized because all link building I did was with scrapebox. However, other experimental sites I had that were only built using Xrumer profile links have been dropped off the board. This has led me to conclude that Google has penalized profile links. Make of it what you will.

I've recently noticed my ranking has increased, im rank #1-3 nearly for all major keywords in my niche.

i have a site that has almost all of its links from SB, and it didn't change position at all,
someone else has mentioned his site with lots of profile links was hit,
so if thats the case, might be profile links they are cracking down on

Are you referring to forum profiles?
the only logic thing i can think of is that it looks like the power of profile backlinks is now bit (or much) lower... or the index rate is much better, so many of the profiles that google indexed and now dead where deleted from its db (or something like that).
i'm pretty sure that it's not about duplicate content in the update. as most of my sites have uniqe content, and lots of them dropped few places down.
i'm doing some tests today, like most of you i guess, to try and see what will work from now...

My websites lost their rank on 16.Jan - some from #2 to page 3 others nowhere...
Lucky i have a few websites on page 1 so now i need to guess what happened and how to protect these ranked on page 1 websites.
I am sure google discounted some low quality easy to build links like profiles and web20 wheels with spun content. I do not collect blog comments (had bad experience last year).
I think a hard time is coming .... machines vs. humans (webmasters)

Yep I went from page 1 right off the index - thing is my site is just a normal site that had good SEO and my own content - pretty ridiculous!

Well i must be one of the lucky ones as my websites have all seen significant rise in the serps. One site jumped from no.35 to no.25 to no.2, back to no.25 then today its no.1 for the main keyword. i have 4 other sites which have gone from top 20 to now no.2 for their main keyword. Another site has come out of the sandbox and is ranked number 8 and rising. I did lose one site which went from nowhere to no.6 and then disappeared again. Waiting to see if it dances back to the top ten.
Oh yeah, all my sites are xrumer+scrapebox combo links.
