Hello gents, I've tried to find an answer to that question via browsing the forum but it's filled with more advanced topics that hopefully I will be tuning into in the near future. For now, I would appreciate some recommendations for software to use for SEO ranking purposes and overtaking competition. Highly appreciated. Thanks.
 
Advertise on BHW
Ahrefs is best alternative imo but you probably mean free ones.

Ubersuggest and SimilarWeb comes to mind.
 
aHrefs... but also consider not using any of these tools because for example, semrush is one of the most useless products out there. It would make sense if the product cost $9.90...but at the price it's really not worth using. The information provided by Semrush (but also by aHrefs and all the others similar) are really of little use for a person who has minimal experience with SEO.

You have Ahrefs and ubersuggest(cheaper but not as strong).
 
Apart from Ahrefs that everyone has repeated here ad nauseum, there are smaller, less-popular, but also less-expensive tools that might be of interest to the lone marketer:

But your choice of tool will depend completely on what you want to achieve. 'SEO ranking' is too vague a concept, there are multiple facets to this, and you'll need to elaborate on your needs to get more targeted suggestions.

This is my takeaway from your post. Thank you for sharing this.

Their free plan is as good for newbies and for those who have limited budget. They track 1100 links for FREE which is really great. Apart from this you get 4 tools (Rank Tracker, WebSite Auditor, SEO SpyGlass, LinkAssistant) for free - this is a must to have service.

I am signing up for their free plan now for one of my site. :D
 
Ahrefs is the alternative tools for Semrush. But in my opinion, Semrush is the best among all SEO tools.
 
Check out Ahrefs, an SEO tool that offers a variety of features.

You can get a combo of tools to access through flikover.com or seotoolsadda.com. They offer ahreff, semrush, Moz, and many more tools at the best price.
