Ironic since the top ranking sites in most expensive kw's are just catalog listings (pinterest, amazon, etc) content farms (Q&A farms) and AI generated text.
Damn right. It's about big brands and $$$ above everything else.

This is what is happening in my experience.
Google favors old/authority websites that have been active in updating/posting since day one. These websites or blogs will automatically be indexed within seconds.
That is why some people are abusing parasites that already have authority, instead of new domains.
It's like being way too hard on your kid and punishing them for no reason. That just teaches them to rebel and to do bad things anyway.
There are many smart marketers finding a way to rank first page around the new updates, including the use of spamming.
So in other words, Google is promoting spam by releasing these new harsh updates and unfortunately getting more spam ranked in the search engines anyway.
