Hi all.

Very glad i am starting to involve in this community, usually i've been a reader only.
However, i have the same story as most of you are reading lately. New Shopify store not giving that much of a result in the past 2 months. I am already using all social media available, preparing some blog posts to improve my SEO, need to do some better description on some products and so on. I am using seriously instagram and i am experimenting with fb ads. I am a non social media user personally, so yeah i have so much to learn and much time to waste.

Anyway, i wanted to ask someone who is already more familiar than me with online stores to take a look at mine: riginality . com

As i've already mentioned there is still work to be done, but i'll get there soon. As far as i can see the bounce rate of my website is pretty high. I get to manage visitors to my store but i am not keeping them. I thought the theme was cool, but maybe is causing me problems? The prices are lower than the competitors and the images are the same, since there is a big lack of imgs in this niche on aliexpress.

I would really appreciate for any comment or advice.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm no expert myself but until someone more qualified gives you advice here are my 2 cents. This comes more from the potential customer's point of view.

First of all, there are many grammar mistakes on the site, e.g. simple yours pet's life -> Simplify your pet's life would be better. I think bad grammar makes a site look less trustworthy.

As for the prices, I don't think they make that much of a difference, because people who want to get a product for as cheap as possible will always find a cheaper option, so they were not your target audience in the first place. You need customers who take a look at the product, fall in love with it and make a purchase immediately.

I wish you the best.

This. You just listed EVERYTHING that might be wrong with your site :)

High Bounce Rate
This happens when:
  • You target the wrong audience.
  • People end up on a site with zero trustworthy - no reviews, basic product description, no images using the product - you don't even have any images of pets anywhere on the page, etc.

"I thought the theme was cool"
Never ever, EVER, ever choose a theme or images that YOU thought are cool. there is no such thing as an amazing website, design, ads, etc. :)The majority of all of this is just personal preference which never results in $$. Data should give you the answers on how to optimize and get to the next level.

"prices are lower than the competitors"
This is completely irrelevant. It doesn't matter. There are probably hundreds of pages selling the same products. The question is what are you doing better than them? Almost no one will go hunting for cheaper products if your website has everything they want.

Your product page is the same as any other Shopify theme. You can easily have higher prices If you:
  • Market better to your audience.
  • Your product page is trustworthy.
  • Use good images, have images using the product, videos, gifs, etc.
  • Have a great/unique product description - a list of benefits and features.
  • Reviews, etc.
Your home page is all over the place. I hope you are sending your visitors directly to your product pages because I have no idea what you are selling by looking at it.

Why do you have 2 email opt-in apps showing at the same time? Having so many notifications at the same time is unnecessary. Data is probably showing you exactly that. Are people opt-in into both (if any)?

Another thing I would recommend is to redirect your customers to the checkout page after they click 'Buy Now.' This could help you push your customers for the purchase and save your customers time for completing the order transaction.

A few tips...

Improve your site speed
The hardest to optimize are pages you don't have full control off, like Shopify.
You are limited with Shopify, but you can:
1. Optimize images.
2. Reduce the number of apps and DELETE apps you are not using.
3. Use Google tag manager for tags (for analytics code, FB pixel, …).
4. Choose a fast, responsive theme, and optimize (less is more - remove carousel banners, replace background images with CSS, …).

Average Order Value
One of the most important things in e-commerce is AOV. Those that can spend more to acquire a customer win. Meaning, you need to do everything you possibly can and test everything to get higher AOV. And you certainly won't get that if you focus on having lower prices than your competitor.

To improve your AOV you can:
  • Make your site better.
  • Create product bundles -> combine 2-3 same products with a discount, combine 2-3 compatible product bundles (a package) that cost more if bought separately.
  • Use one-click upsells/downsells. Once you secure the order (already paid) they see an upsell for a bundle/popular product/more of the same before the thank you page. There are a ton of apps you can use, but one of the best (and most expensive) is OCU by Zipify. Once you figure out what to upsell this alone can pay for your ads. People are not done buying just because you are done selling :)

Retargeting campaigns
Remarketing your audience is the cheapest way to get people back + in combination with email marketing is the easiest money.
For remarketing, you should set up run 3 campaigns right away:
  • All visitors (exclude buyers).
  • ATC (exclude buyers) - a reminder of what they were looking for.
  • Post-purchase - targeting buyers only with upsells and new products.

E-commerce is not as easy as it once was. You need to test, test and test some more, improve every aspect of the marketing, website, ads, copy, targeting, etc.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I'm no expert but I think you should do some changes to the homepage.

I would say the color scheme is nice, those ornaments are also ok but I've immediately noticed you have kind of two logos, I mean two different typeface styles for the same logo, and the one from the main banner looks like it has some rough edges or low resolution compared to the rest of the banner which looks quite good.

Also, at least for me it was a little bit hard to find the actual products. Starting with those quote style elements like "Let's go out", being that close to the top banner I would think they are some sort of additional ornaments, I wouldn't think I should click on those to find the actual products.
When I scroll down, I think because most of the time the "Subscribe to newsletter" section is at the bottom of the page, I would think that I've already gone through the main section, and I still haven't found the products.

I think you should move that section down the page and highlight the products somehow, maybe adding the product names and the prices under the image would work.

WOW thank you so much for this fundamental reply. I appreciate spending time to give such a great feedback! I need to go through everything you stated above and try to make changes and correct mistakes. The website is far from perfect...i definitely need more time and creativity and as you said "Testing". We usually have the tendency to give up easily and trying to find quick answers. However seeing a website from others perspective is more than useful. Thank you once again!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I just realized that i did the sentence just for a trial and never did a better slogan!

Your logo is not even relevent to the product

Why not? I am a cocker spaniel breeder all my life and the logo is kind of personal. The clothes are for smaller breeds, but overall they are all dogs. If you have any suggestion i would like to hear.

Thank you for taking the time to scroll and give your opinion.
The quality of the image on the slideshow has to do with the theme. It's a main problem, and i realize it after i spend hours trying to create the scheme and the slideshows. The desktop version and the mobile one are totally different. This was the best i could get after making thousands of changes. I thought of changing the theme, but then i liked this specific theme because matched my vision on how should my vision of the esthetic part. So i am still in doubt of that part.

Having a perspective from a "potential customer"can help a lot. That's why i kind of asked for a personal review. Since i know what my site is about and what do i have to offer makes me a blind person to realize how a random person would navigate. I will definitely try to do this changes, because my bounce rate either shows it's not easy to navigate or i am targeting a wrong audience.

Once again. Thanks a lot!

Honestly you don't need a unique description or even reviews. I am using a basic description and don't even have reviews on my site but it still converts.

I forgot to mention that I've initially navigated through your desktop website, but I've now checked out the mobile version too.

I think you should keep the theme, it looks good, but it needs some refining. If you can't get that banner to work properly in term of resolution I think you should take the dog outline logo, place it to the top together with the @Riginality and remove the text from the banner or even the whole banner if still gives you troubles.

The main problem that needs to be solved, in my opinion, is the one with the products not being visible enough.

Thank you. And can you tell me any additional technics that are you using beside Insta and fb ads? Appreciate it.
