if your keywords are good filtred you can go with one long 1500 word+ article for one product it should work

Let's see. First, I'd recommend doing your research before you start an Affiliate site so you have plenty of keywords and you can just focus on content. Say, start with 50 or 100 long tail and more general keywords.
I'm not completely clear on what you mean by "how many articles" you should write? One or two per week, maybe? It's good to have a consistent uploading schedule, that much I know.
You don't need to have a lot of different products, as long as you have a few Amazon links in every article. Actually, not even every article, some of them can just link to your other articles. For example, you can write about dieting in general and link to another article on your site where you have Amazon links for various supplements.
As for the word count... That really varies. I've seen people rank with 600 words, as long as the post is SEO-friendly. But really these articles often have anywhere between 2 and 4 thousand words.

that is correct you dont need to have a lot of different products at all and id suggest you to add 5 to 10 articles daily and drive more traffic to your site

How can a person write 5 - 10 quality articles a day? Even outsourcing it would've been a madness. Quality over quantity here, just my 2 cents...

This is summary of advice I got so far: 30 to 50 quality articles and so 30 to 50 long tail key words is optimal to build an authority affiliate site. I just need to figure out number of products to promote on the website. As per your suggestion how many "pages" should I have then. When you say pages what do you mean? I will have a home page , one products page as summary, product page for each product and then articles or blogs which will be 30 to 50.

In affiliate, we make the money pages like "best watch" and it should have 5-10 products in a single page and comparison chart too.

If you are going to add different pages for all the products, then you should go with 5 product pages and then supporting articles to interlink them with the main product page.

And try to interlink to your homepage too.

For initialy you can add 3-4 pages.

If we are talking about long tail keywords. Then they would be very beneficial especially for blogs. You can write two perfect blogs on initially basis. In starting, I don't suggest you to list more then two products.

Another side, Read about blog rules to count maximum words for your blogs.
