As an aspiring freelance writer, I seek advice from active freelancers on their approach to getting writing gigs.

Writing is my only skill, and I've been exhausted looking for freelance work for the past few months, I've spent a lot of time sending out proposals but to no avail.

Despite spending a lot of time bidding on projects on Freelancer and sending proposals on Facebook, it seems tough to compete. I've also explored job boards like ProBlogger, but no responses have been received.

I urgently need freelance writing work, and I'm open to writing for even the lowest rates, like $1 or $2 per article. For freelance writers getting enough work, please share your suggestions on the most effective ways to secure such jobs.

Despite submitting several writing samples to potential clients, I have not received any responses. At first, I thought my samples might not be good enough to land writing gigs, but after seeing some samples on Facebook posts, my writing is on par, if not better.

Admittedly, my perspective may be biased, and I would appreciate your evaluation of the sample paragraph below. Could it be that my writing lacks the appeal needed to win over potential clients?

Please find a sample paragraph below for your evaluation:

"""
Approaching A Loved One About Seeking Therapy Help

To initiate a conversation with a loved one about seeking therapy, one must be thoughtful and mindful of the delicate nature of the topic. Factors such as timing, location, and approach must be considered to avoid triggering feelings of shame or defensiveness. These emotions can hinder the individual's likelihood of seeking the professional help they need. Furthermore, the pervasive stigma surrounding mental health treatments poses a formidable obstacle, dissuading individuals from seeking therapy despite experiencing symptoms that warrant professional intervention. Despite the challenging nature of this process, it is essential to remain mindful of the potential benefits of professional help, particularly if a loved one's condition deteriorates over time.

""""

I appreciate your input and look forward to your suggestions.

It's really tough to get freelance writing tasks at ProBlogger because a single gig can receive up to 300 request. I saw a video of someone mentioning that the the client told him he received massive proposals from writers.

So I guess it's better to stick to freelance sites and Facebook groups. It's not easy for writers these days because of AI tools.

First, there is a lot of competition among freelance writers. Second, the careers of writers are threatened by the advent of AI. So, in my opinion it is better not to proceed with writing.

We started with local facebook groups. Now having network of sales pages.

Send us some samples, We might have something for you

EDIT :

My friend, at least give some effort to generate a proper content, especially when you are posting as a sample to clients.

Why anyone should pay you anything, if you can't at least make use of the AI properly.

Thank you for providing the feedback. Upon my observations, I have noticed that AI detection tools often provide incorrect results when checking less than 1000 characters.

I have run the entire article that I scrapped the paragraph you have checked using multiple AI tools, including Originality..dot ai, Writer..dot com, Copyleaks, and OpenAI Detector (I can't add links because maybe I am new to the forum please) and it has passed all of them.

As for the specific paragraph you mentioned, it has also passed the tools I have used, with the exception of the GPTzero tool you have mentioned.

I have stopped using GPTzero in the past few weeks as I realized that it may not be the fairest tool for detecting AI. There have been reports of even text from reputable media sites such as CNN failing to pass their test with GPTZero, as the tool tends to flag paragraphs as being written by AI.

I ran the complete article (1500) through GPTZero, and it flagged some paragraphs, but not all. The paragraph you mentioned was flagged by GPTZero, but it has passed other AI detection tools such as Writer...dot com, Copyleaks and others.

I know exactly how to bypass GPTZero, but then i realize that the text will become difficult to comprehend by the average English speaking person. For example take a look at the paragraph you check, I've rewritten it and it has passed GPTZero, but if you check the readability score, you'll find that it's less. It will be suggested that only college graduate can comprehend it's content.

Please check the paragrpah below, it's the rewritten version you have scanned earlier. Let me know which one is more readable to the average person?

Initiating a dialogue with a beloved companion regarding the pursuit of therapy demands an assiduous and scrupulous approach. One must meticulously deliberate the timing, location, and manner of communication to preclude any semblance of ignominy or antagonism. These sentiments possess the capacity to deter the likelihood of the individual procuring the professional assistance that they require. Furthermore, the ubiquitous and ingrained stigma that shrouds mental health treatments imposes an insurmountable hindrance, deterring individuals from seeking therapeutic intervention, notwithstanding the manifestation of symptoms that unarguably require professional attention. Despite the arduous and intricate nature of this undertaking, it is indispensable to remain cognizant of the potential benefits of seeking professional aid, particularly if a beloved companion's condition deteriorates over time.

That's definitely what I'll consider or at least have another skill as an alternative when things aren't good. Thanks for your suggestions.

Being a writer is an easy profession. Anyone with a little creativity can do it. So, someone who was not a writer yesterday, today may already be a writer. Competition got fierce very quickly and there weren't enough jobs for all. At least that's what I've observed in the last few months.

writing is not enough; you should develop a new skill. like acting or computer related subjects. get a degree in computer science. become a welder, learn to sing dance and paint. launch a grocery store or a coffee shop for 10,000$. create articles with the help of A.I. it will replace all required writing skill so it doesn't win that you have a writing skill. with a computer science degree, you could develop advanced article writing software something like ChatGPT. learn a programming language for 19$ on udem.y.com. learn hacking, cracking (cracking a joke) web design and shopify ecommerce.

on coursera.com, expensive but wins. computers are everything in the future where A.I. depend on it
