Hey everyone,

I have a site in the finance niche (banking, credit cards) that went mini viral and spread through WOM. 40% traf comes from Google.

It gets 5-10k unique visitors per month, but monetised with newsletter subs. Only has a few pages, not really done too much blogging.

The subs are seasonal but consistent, total of 5000 customers, however there's not much room to scale in this direction.

I'm considering blog posts more in order to diversify income / leverage audience. Customers aren't receptive to affiliate offers really.

SEMrush gives me a DA of 8 so I think it's building decent cred in the eyes of Google and I've heard this is kinda hard in YMYL niches so maybe I can take advantage of this?

My question:

What would be a good move for me here? Should I invest in content and try and build a bigger blog to take advantage of mini authority in this niche, then monetise with display & mediavine when big enough?

Got an email list of about 5k from it too. Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

It's a good move if you do it the right way. With a DA of 8, you're already showing promise, so scaling up quality content can boost traffic and help you qualify for Mediavine or other ad networks. You could also use that email list of 5k to drive traffic to new posts and test content ideas. Over time, this could diversify your income with ads and maybe even premium content or eBooks, depending on what resonates.
Also, don’t sleep on optimizing your existing pages, they’re clearly doing something right if they’re driving traffic and subs. See if you can improve them for better SEO or add internal links to new blog posts you create. Maybe even experiment with lightweight lead magnets (like a free credit card comparison tool or budgeting template) to boost engagement and collect more emails. Long-term, you could consider partnerships with other finance sites or guest posts to build backlinks and grow your DA faster. With your niche and mini-authority, there’s a lot of potential to scale up without breaking the bank.

Creating more high-quality content is always a good idea to keep your blog growing steadily

Thank you for the advice! Nice to hear that I might be on the right lines when I'm thinking about blogging, Sometimes it's good to bounce ideas of people and see how they view the situation :)

You're right about the optimisations - I'm always split testing the money pages but my subs are seasonal so hopefully blogging can be a longer term play to achieve more consistent rev.

So new visitors are not converting here ?

New visitors still convert, but demand is seasonal so it fluctuates - hopefully blog can smooth it out

Keep posting new content on trending topics. To monetize, Write an ebook on a hot topic and sell it. CPA offers also convert in the finance niche.

Learn email marketing and milk that email list is my honest opinion!

Are you interested in a JV? not on your blog directly but on derivative content from your blog.

Yes, you should absolutely invest in content now. You've already done the hard part building trust in a tough niche. Start publishing SEO friendly, helpful blog posts regularly, and slowly aim for display ad income like Mediavine.

Yes, you should start now. You've already earned trust, and that’s the hardest part. Just write simple, helpful blog posts with SEO in mind.
