4 Steps to Make Your Video Go Viral

Video marketing is constantly on the rise and it provides a good alternative for people who love to showcase their personal life, activities, niches e.t.c to make money or for fun.

I am going to share with you my little ideas and ways i use to make my videos go viral.

Note, this is nothing new but i believe newbies will find it educational, so ride on.

1. Make a Video - Create a video, it doesn't have to be too techy, funky or classic so long as it showcase your product, service e.t.c in a decent manner then you are good to go. There are several software you can use to make clean videos describing your products/services, you can also use PowerPoint to create content slideshow video e.t.c. You also don't need any great camera to do this, with just your mobile phone video camera you can shoot a quick video. Always add your URL at the end of the video.

2. Upload to YouTube and Optimize - Optimize your Title, Tags and Description. It is best to use catchy titles not just your keyword and also use a long tail keyword in the title, this will create chances of ranking for several keywords terms and make your title eye catching.

3. Get Popular - This is where the popularity begins. If you have a high traffic site/blog then embed your video in your site, this will help you to start getting unique views and as you know this is one of the thing YouTube uses to rank video in their search engine. You can post your on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter e.t.c, distribute it to other video sharing sites to get view, you can also buy good views. The essence here is to get as much views as you can than your competitor or close, subscriptions, comment, likes your video get puts it on the path of popularity and you will start enjoying steady streams of visitors landing on your site everyday.

4. Back Links - Normally, step 3 is all you need to rank high but in cases where your keyword is highly competitive you will need to get some decent amount of back links spread over a few month depending on the competition.

These are 4 basic steps to get a video uploaded on youtube, but these won't get you viral. You can't get more than 1000 views just by doing this.
"Viral" is more than that, it's about more than 1 million views basically. Nyan cat, david after dentist, annoying orange, even the overly attached girlfriend covers. In this examples annoying orange vids are the single ones made high quality, so it's not the needed ingredient in the recipe for succes. But neither of these are made just with a slideshow presentation.

I saw very few viral videos on youtube made with powerpoint presentations, the noticeable ones are lyric music videos.

All viral videos have something in common, symbols, powerful images, facts. That something has an impact on the viewers emotions, be it funny, nasty, cool, terrible. It's that wow factor that makes viewers to stay on the vid more than 15 seconds, and more importantly gives the viewers the motivation to SHARE your content. Period.

It depends on what is your definition of viral, for you it's a million views, is it a million views a day or month?

The definition of viral i mean here is to get your video up and sending you traffic.

I see a lot of videos not getting any views or traffic other than the fake views they bought.

It's just a little tutorial for the newbies and not people with pipe dreams.

Videos have url's you know... you can point links to your videos to boost their rankings.

i post in fb group n get 50k view n 400 shared in 2 days. thats what we call viral..=D

This is actually good news for newbies. A lot of people buy ads off fiverr or something and put them up on youtube without trying to get links. They just hope traffic will come in and don't know the work behind it. Linking to youtube is good. You could also go further and put your video link on social media sites. I've clicked a lot of links to see what was up. Thanks for the summary it could be helpful but I'll spice it up with my own spin as well.

This isn't even 1% of going viral for YouTube. You forgot that going viral means more than "free". You would need to buy good campaigns for Facebook success stories, Adwords for Google on YouTube searches, and other ways you can go viral. I think that people on here lose touch with reality (not refering to the OP here). No videos for the people, nothing but crappy quality of videos, and they can't comprehend anything outside of "viewer give me monies?".

You forget that PRESS works for everything, paid or free. Try using that in combination with a few other good BST / Methods and you will be building OFF YouTube awareness. So, combine that with the paid and free version of each side, and a viral effect for YouTube (buying views or sucking up to a social site 2.0) or just flat out making awesome content you will succeed.

I think people need to realize that with all the resources here, and if you work "smart" you can setup viralization for anything...

This is a good start guide but I think a lot of it is just dumb luck.

This is VERY basic information. "Upload your video"? lol. You'd have to be one hell of a newb to not be able to figure that part out. In all seriousness, though, what you've outlined is really "Step 1" in the process to getting a video to go viral. As others have pointed out, the key to a video hitting that viral point has more to do with the quality of the video. Uploading a dumb-ass marketing video that you made with MovieMaker (which is really a slide show in Comic Sans font) is not going to go viral under any circumstances.Once a user follows your steps, they then have to seed the video to social media (everything from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, etc.) Thereafter, putting some money into marketing the video wouldn't hurt. Buying some ads on Facebook and Reddit is helpful. I'm also speaking broad strokes, of course, but there is a lot more to striking gold than just kicking dirt around. Often, as another poster pointed out, it's just dumb luck. That video of your uncle getting drunk at your little sister's birthday party might just strike a chord at the right time and make you rich. Thereafter, you may never get another hit. It's just luck of the draw.The best thing you can do is strive to make all of your videos quality and don't aim for a viral video - just aim for something steady. Have enough of those and you'll make a respectable income via YT.

Nice thread - The quality of the video is also very important - Your not going to get some powerpoint presentation video go viral - Well the chances of it going viral will be very slim - heck even a great video needs to be pushed

OP, you should either change the title of this thread or the content of it, they aren't related at all. And you tell to backlinks, what type of links do you point to the videos and channel, can you shed some light on that.

Yeah this is fairly basic info.. but I guess it is true.
