Hello,

My company started a small, Middle Eastern women's lifestyle website last year, and it has been receiving about 10K hits monthly, with 25K Page-views on average. This has been consistent for the past 6 months. No great increases, no drops. Just stable.

We publish about 4 to 5 articles daily and have social media pages all set up (with verified badges on all platforms). We are however lacking in the SEO department because we haven't really invested in back-linking, internal cross linking, Keyword researches, etc. But this week, the company has just agreed to invest $300K in marketing, promoting, and getting the website off the ground.

In terms of quality, design, and editorial writing style, we have a professional team and they've done a great job with the overall look and feel of the site. But like I said earlier, we are lacking in the SEO and marketing department... so I need your help, fam.

How would you recommend I invest the $300K to get the website off the ground, using mainly white-hat tactics, that are cost-effective, and that will greatly affect our overall site ranking, traffic numbers (at the present time and in the long run). The amount is to be spent within a year, starting this month, so I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get.

In terms of marketing and influence, we have the content and material, but I am not sure how best to market it. If you also have any ideas how I can market the site in a way that will get us mentioned, quoted, referenced by other major sites, that would be incredibly helpful.

P.S. I am not sure how much this will help, but the company isn't necessarily looking to make money off of the site, but to achieve influence in it's field. So, for example, seeing that we are an Arab women's lifestyle site, they want us to become THE source of information on Arab women, whether the site makes money or not, is irrelevant. It is influence and authority that they are after -- Influence that is measurable, so fake traffic and bots would greatly backfire.

Again, a million thanks! I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

I 100% agree with branding too.

SEO is secondary IMO. Invest that amount in a good customer retention, customer support and customer loyalty instead.

Branding would work better than SEO in this case. Offline promotion, podcasts, hiring models on Instagram etc would get the brand out there and increase value in the eyes of middle easterners.
Thank you! But wouldn't SEO be key, if they want to appear influential on Google SERP, too? I totally agree with branding. Thanks!

Yes SEO is important down the line so I’d definitely invest in it. I’d put my focus on branding for now though whilst building SEO links and rank for brand keywords.

Hire a local agency in your country to overlook this for you.

  • Brand Managment - Perhaps you start to branch out by ramping up your social media presence or obtaining the permits to start to conduct interviews with a real media presence package.
  • Events - Consider taking a portion of the money and invest in sending a representative of your brand to some of the events associated with your niche. Creating that presence outside of the site will bring more of a validation to your site for those who aren't aware of your site.
  • Sponsorship - Consider sponsoring and having a keynote speaker represent your brand at one of the many marketing events worldwide. This will not only allow you to spread the message of what your site is about but it will also allow you to possibly secure additional funding from established brands. ( This may also open up partnership opportunities).
  • SEO / Marketing - Set the budget for this and stick with it! You have your team and that's more than 80% of the battle, now it's time to really put other methods to work. Consider hiring marketing interns to work under some of your established staff. Interns gain experience, the opportunity to prove themselves so they can maybe vie for a position in the future and a letter of recommendation. Hiring interns to work for free allows you to tap into their methodology and absorb a sense of the varying audiences based on the age demographic.

    Those are a few suggestions.

Thanks very much! Appreciate all the help!

I doubt he would share it lol.
I don’t know... I’ve been warned many times in the past (by BHW Veterans, too) about sharing URLs and page usernames on here. I wish I could... that would make the entire process easier for me because I’d get more customized advice.

I agree with the majority. You need to build your brand.

I have worked in this area and depending on exactly who/where your target reader is and what your long term income model is you should look at native advertising for this space.

Bro I'm a vetted member here, don't know shit about SEO, I just WANT to read the articles.

Branding and SEO can go hand in hand. Consider some high end editorial articles, as these will add authority to the site and expand the brand. The more of these quality articles/links you have published the more likely that anything published (3-4 articles p/d) will automatically rank in Google. This would be my 1st step personally. Brand + SEO.

There are few websites like this that get those views I can just think of fustany any other suggestions?
I’m very familiar with Fustany, but you’d be surprised how many similar sites there are.

there are enough clues to figure it out
I’d challenge anyone, but I guarantee you, that would only prove futile... I know the market very well, it would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.

PPC and social media presence hands down... I love SEO, but with a large budget those are more reliable than the old black magic.
