Why work with AdSense only if you can run the whole ad server with dozen networks?
Running header bidding, an auction where ad networks compete for each bid instead of selling at a default rate to AdSense can 2x, 5x, or even 10x your (friends) revenue.

As a simple solution, you can look for a CPM ad network + native ads as they work really well with image-related sites.
 
Some of the big free image sites like pixabay use the shutter stock or Adobe affiliate program so that might be worth a try.

could you please suggest some best CPM and native ad networks, which you have used(from your experience) that could be helpful.

If pageviews are 10X per visit, then $5, which is also possible considering the number of ads per page and type of those ads.
Something very annoying could pull a pretty good revenue, though, I doubt it will be close to $50k (considering GEO of traffic).

I don't think so he is making money with the 2M traffic potentially. 2M traffic is not worth of $2k only

That's debatable. Traffic origin plays a great role, so 2M US traffic would bring more revenue than IN.
There are too many moving parts in the process, in one scenario $50k would be losing money while in the other $2k could be unexpectedly great.

but we are looking for something which can give us $50k..affiliate kinda or banner ad placement
 
Doest the image have spesific theme? Like certain niche. Or just any image.

Nobody is going to pay $50k just because you have 2M traffic. The traffic could be a bot, or pop, in other words, have no value or it could be a few visitors but very targeted. Not saying you can't make it, but realistically $2k is not bad and meaning there is room to grow. How big is that room has to be defined by analysis of your site, traffic origin and performance, and many other things. As I said, there are too many moving parts in the process.

You think so? I Think $2k for Indian traffic is amazing. He should focus on getting Tier 1 traffic, then "$50k" is gonna be more achievable

Since it's motivational quotes, than you can test the water if you post image with how to earn money online or put private ads. Try find some aff or cpa offer on the topic.
Than see how much it clicked or convert.
The problem with third country traffic. Is it conversion rate,.

Look example of my work:
Same niche, same network and same period
USA trafic

India traffic

You can see, that traffic from indian are very cheap.
So if I had had 2 million visitors from india, I would have got about $2-3k
