250 dollars a day - Hard word, dedication, and determination

I thought i would try amazon but then found out i cant become an associate because i live in one of the banned states XD

You made your first sale on something like day 7. Did you have a site/page ranked on the first page of G that soon? Where are the sales producing site's ranked? Or maybe a site doesn't have to be on the first page to get traffic/sales? You made no mention of any backlinking, just adding more content. Maybe it's easier than I thought.

I don't target hard or high search volume products. I look for niches I think people will look for online that is evergreen and type. Although I have not done much this week at all if I am honest but I did sell a laptop and mouse which was the highlight of my week online. I don't even promote laptops so it was a bonus.

Some of my posts are wasted because i don't do enough research, but some rank first page immediately with no backlinks simply because there are very few promoting it or optimizing their page properly for it. My strategy is pretty much looking for products that very few are promoting, it seems to be working on a small scale so far. Who knows how much I can make with it ;) 250 dollars a day? I sure hope so.

I did mention back linking in my first post ;) and in most cases you need to be on first page with this strategy because the search volume is usually quite low.

So I did not type many reviews this week as I had too much to catch up on with work but in total:

Site 1: 2 reviews
Site 2: 0 reviews
Site 3: 2 reviews

day 14

$0

day 15

$0.87

day 16

$22

day 17

$0

day 18

$4

Majority of these sales on amazon are coming from cookies placed from one-two of my reviews.

I would like a little more detail on how you are searching products and what your criteria is. I tried to PM you to see if you would send me a link to one of your site to get a feel for the layout but can not PM yet. Would love if you would share one please.

Is there a price point that you are targeting?

update your journey
how much visitors you get per day?
how many sites you have?
how many pages for each site?
how much you make per month?

Ive seen you on the other amazon thread and it seems like youre doing well for yourself mate.

Would love to see a update or another thread for 2014

Totally forgot about this thread.
I now have six websites. I have broken several of my targets hit a 250 dollar day twice but never consistent. Not reached the stage yet where I can go full time online. That's my target in 2014.

how much visitors you get per day? Highest site currently getting around 300-400 visits a day, lowest 0-20 visits a day.
how many sites you have? Six
how many pages for each site? One has over 200 reviews. Others have between 5 and 60.
how much you make per month? Not enough ;) Over $1000 barrier now.

I will give this some more updates this year as it has worked quite well to some extent. Took a while to get going though.

Would you mind elaborating a little?

1. Did you stick to standard WP themes or did you invest in high quality (review) themes (from the start?)?
2. Are you targetting low/medium/high priced items, or a little of everything?
3. You mentioned your niches have very little competition - how exactly do you define 'little', how many searches/month, or however you measure it?
4. Did you outsource our SEO work, or did you do it all by yourself? If so, how experienced were you in the beginning and was it neccessary to improve that knowledge?
5. How much time did you spend on working on your websites, every day?
6. Did you stick to Google as your main source of traffic, or have you tried different sources (social media, spamming, etc.)?
7. Did you notice certain actions having a big(ger) impact on your traffic than others, or was it a steady increase in visitors/day once your website ranked a little better?
8. When did you start seeing 'consistent' income from your websites? (consistent = no more 0-20$ days)
9. How much (just a rough number is fine) are you banking on average, these days?

I know these are a lot of questions, but I'd really appreciate it, if you'd take the time to answer them. I am incredibly interested in Amazon marketing and you've obviously done it - from 0$ to a good income.
Thanks mate.

congradulations op on the level of success you are experiencing. sounds like you are having more success in one year than most imers have in their entire marketing careers.

1. All of my themes bar one which was an experiment are free blogging themes that can be found in the wordpress theme directory. Don't overthink layout or design, it's all in the content and keeping it simple.

2. Low at start, then after a certain period of time adding content continuously generates a little bit of authority. When this happens I begin to target a bit of everything. Look for products away from the best sellers in the beginning. Look into the new arrivals sections.

3. I look at the top ten. Not with any sort of software, I just know when something has no competition when there are facebook notes, web 2.0's, scraped content and google groups ranking on the 1st page. I don't use the keyword tool for product research anymore. Just amazon and my Google 1st page.

4. Do very little off site SEO work. Mostly gains traffic through long tails which is better converting buyer traffic anyway. My on page SEO is reasonably good and shares some similarities with those posted by phpbuilt in the authority site guide.

5. 3-5 hours when I come home from work. 6-10 hours on the weekend.

6. All of it is Google organic traffic atm. I want to change this in the future, but haven't got round to it. I need to diversify soon or it can all come crashing down.

7. No, only thing I can attribute to traffic increase is content, content and more content. Always write over 500 words to catch long tails, and try to hit 800 or more if you can. The rankings got a boost after a month or so on my biggest site. A lot of them were pushed to page one from 11-50. Seen the same with other sites. Consistent flow of content onto the site every day seems to have a positive impact on rankings. Interlink between your posts too.

8. After 3-4 months. Still get the odd 0 dollar days though.

9. Over 1k and under 2k ;).

Also, read PHPbuilt guide on the internal linking, anchor texts and so on in his authority thread. This is how you rank well without the external SEO part.

Lol come on man, I wouldn't be working a full time job if I was earning 1-2k dollars a day ;)

Thanks A LOT, mate. Incredibly detailed, that's how I like it.

Another question though: Are you satisfied with your results or do you feel your projects should be bigger by now and your income should be higher? Or do you feel it's just about right for the time you've spent on your websites?

Definitely could of done better, but it's has been a learning process in and feel I have a understanding of what works and what doesn't now so that should hopefully be easier for me to scale now.

As for time spent, that depends on the person I reckon. Amazon is always slow to get going, but the reason I chose it is because it is a great way to earn a passive income. I could take two weeks off tomorrow and jet off to Fiji, and still be earning the same. The potential is there but some people aren't cut out for putting in the initial work which is understandable. I want to put in the work and be my own boss at some stage.

I actually like the idea of a passive income better than short bursts of higher income. It's one of the reasons why I'm that interested in the amazon affiliate network.

Would you mind describing your daily routine for me? I'm just wondering, because you said you spent 3-4hrs every day working on your websites. What exactly do you do?

How are your rankings doing for these niche sites? How are you sitting now in your keywords?

nah i want to be like the crab fishermen. earn my money in large clumps then take it easy the rest of the year :)

Mostly type content and ensure it is not over optimized. I also look for new product review opportunities and stick them in a excel sheet to work my way through. I could outsource all of this, but a lot of the time I get gibberish back when I buy content. Most of the time it is keyword stuffed of the word count is increased with absolute fluff. ;)

Most of the time they are in the top ten however I still have plenty outside the top ten that need optimizing. I have hundreds of pages, so that is not always a easy task.

Or do initial work like this and take it easy all year? ;)

Hehe, people have been known to have carried on working in their current job, after they've won the lottery.

I'm not cut out to work in a office my whole life. I would like to get out and see more of the world with nothing but my laptop and a wireless device :D
