Hi guys, I thought It would be a good idea to document what I am doing, and what I want to achieve in 2013. Hopefully it will give me a bit more motivation to hit targets, while showing new comers whats possible.

I have a full time job that eats up a lot of my spare time, however, it also gives me something stable to fall back on while I build my income online.

I am going to be focusing on Amazon niche sites first of all. I will be writing around 50 reviews per niche, all hand picked products which are low in competition and can be ranked to the first page quickly. I will be aiming to build at least 1 new site a month.

Because the products are low competition not a lot of SEO is required to rank them to first page. However, I will send social bookmarks 5-10 web 2.0, doc sharing sites and articles to the big directories if they need a little push.

Also note I am targeting Amazon.com simply because UK has a ridiculous 7 pound cap on products.

Day 1

Bought niche relevant domain.

Hand picked 7 low comp products to write about.

Wrote 7 well optimized reviews with keyword in title, description, h1, and alt tag on image.

Earnings: $0

LOL another one. If you want to get to $250/day you should buy at least 10 domains and scale it up from the beginning. Aiming to $250/day with one domains, few articles and $0/day is little....funny. But I'm not criticizing your goal, I just thought your work should be appropriate to your goal.

Thanks for the reply. I am aiming to scale up and hire a full time writer once I make enough to cover their wages with online earnings.

I'm very interested to follow you in this adventure as I wish to do the same.

Just a number of small questions:

1. How are you picking your niches? Do you have a strategy e.g. Seasonality or just random?
2. Are you using Wordpress as your cms? Or another development environment?
3. If Wordpress what plugins are you going to use.
4. How do you write your reviews?
5. Have you considered squidoo as well as your own sites.

Soory for all the question but I'd like to start off in the right direction.

Hi luckyjim.I live in Essex but was born in London, COYI! Thanks for the reply.

1. I am going to make sure the majority of my sites I make are evergreen. However, once the earning start building nicely I will probably build a couple of seasonal ones.

As for strategy I pick products within the niche that have at least one 4 star and above review. The keywords I target vary but, these are buyer keywords like product name review, cheap product name, product name discount, product name best price.

2. Are you using Wordpress as your cms? Or another development environment?

Wordpress, it has never failed me.

3. If Wordpress what plugins are you going to use.

Login lockdown, bulletproof security, all in one SEO pack, Google xml sitemaps, W3cache, ultimate tinymce. Pretty basic stuff but it's always worked well for me.

4. How do you write your reviews?

300-400 words. Image on left at top, short summary describing what product is and why it stands out from competition. (100 words, wrapped on the right side of image.) Then after that include a aff link just below the summary that says something like "check here for reviews" "check for the best price", I like to make the link a big bold blue. Also make product image an aff link.

Then underneath the image and summary, write 200-300 words that include a couple of strengths, specification and one negative. But try to turn a negative into a positive. For example if you are going to talk about a TV's bad sound quality, go on to say how a sound system can improve someones viewing experience. Finally include another big bold blue aff link underneath this text with something like "click here for a large discount" "check for best price" with aff link.

5. Have you considered squidoo as well as your own sites.

Don't do it, your not in control. It can be done but you can lose it all in a heartbeat. Better invest in your own sites. Use squidoo as web 2.0 backlinks if you need.

I'm in the UK too so will be following this one. That green font and black background isn't too easy on the eyes!!
 
thanks Kevin, I have changed it to a better font color/style. Also I am not targetting Amazon UK. I would advise against it to be honest. The UK Amazon associates is capped at 7 quid commissions. So I am using Amazon.com
 
Day 2:

Bought a new domain in a different niche. So now I have two sites up.

Site 1: Wrote 2 reviews
Site 2: Wrote 5 reviews

Researched four other potential niches + several products in each for the future.

Earnings will be 0 till pages get indexed.

I find plenty outside the best sellers. Yes there is less traffic for those types of products but it is also very easy to rank and if you target buying keywords you will make sales.
 
Day 3:

Too tired and stressed after work to think straight so I didn't get as much done as I would of liked.

Wrote 2 reviews on my new domain.
 
Day 4

some reviews are getting indexed.

Site 1: 1 review written
Site 2: 3 reviews written

Site number three will start on about the 15th-16th Jan in a new niche.
