2 websites from $0/day to $200/day+ (because I hate Quarantine)

You're getting some serious traffic for such a short time. Well done!

You would make more money, if you sold your own ebook .. =)

This ebook idea is interesting, and one that I have thought about in the past. As with everything, there are tradeoffs.

When I sell E books on Amazon (I have maybe 5), they have two goals. One to generate leads for my business (which the whole point of this journey is to replace), and two to make money.

Amazon takes 35% from ebook sales, but they offer you a market of people who are looking for your book. Most sell for 5ish USD.

At the same time, I could get 100% of ebook sales if I listed it on my website. however, the market is much smaller (though more targeted). Maybe I could sell them at @Kikerinka prices, $20+.

Something else to think about is the KDP Exclusive program (or whatever it’s called). I can't even take the existing e-books off of Amazon until their contracts expire, Because all of them are in this program. I think that is in a couple of months.

The program also allows me to sell paperback copies, Which come with much more profit.

For this upcoming book, I think that I will be publishing it in chunks on the blog, and then in full on Amazon.

For future e-books, I may write much shorter ones, say 5000 to 10,000 words that are incredibly targeted towards specific high traffic blog posts.

Those I could sell on my site. $5-$10. This was actually an idea of mine that I've been wanting to do for awhile.

This is definitely something to think about though. Thank you for the input!

Good luck in your journey, the plan looks very good
Looks like you've got a solid plan in place. And already starting to see some results. Good luck with your journey!

Thank you guys, I appreciate the messages. They are incredibly helpful in my sandbox days.

In my experience, there's really no benefit with having books on Amazon, except of one: people trust the platform, so some who may hesitate to buy from your website (because it is not a recognized brand--if it is not yet) will buy from Amazon (trusted by almost everyone :)).

In the past, I actually used some blackhat method (kindle bots) to rank one book no 1. in three different categories on Amazon. It stayed there for several days. The difference in sales? None.
Because nobody browses book categories on Amazon :).

So unless you send traffic to your book -- from your website, your social media channels, or whatever other platform, the book won't get any extra views just because it is on Amazon..

So to sum it up:
- You make a product
- You send traffic to Amazon, they make profit from your product, sales, and from your traffic
- They give you back nothing - virtually no analytics, no names or emails of buyers, no data, nothing to work with for the purpose of understanding the customer behavior, and perhaps learn how to improve conversions, landing pages, make new books, whatever :).

When your period with KDP select ends (it's 3 months always), I recommend you to not prolong it, and try making sales on your website instead, for a period of three months. I am almost sure you will make the same number of sales, and you will also get a lot of valuable data for your analytics :)

Well, it's been some time. Just about 6 months have passed since I last updated this thread.

At that point, I was getting about 200 visits per day, primarily through search. Let's take a look at where the website is now, how much traffic I'm getting, and how close I am to the $200 per day goal. First, if you remember in the beginning of this journey article, I ended up only deciding to focus on one website in one niche. I think that was a good move, because we are very close to 400,000 words of content on the site, as well as over 300 articles published.

Publication activity on the blog. Most of the content is over 6 months old now and seriously gaining ranking as it escapes the sandbox (which is 100% legit, at least for this site).

Nice and pretty uptrend (google analytics).

Nice and pretty uptrend, then a scary dip, but it looks like we're recovering (this is a 4 month period -- I think?).

I have also begun specializing in a sub niche of my much larger niche which has a ton of competition. But, my domain rating is solid enough that I can begin taking on the bigger publications in my area. Pretty cool, and something I haven't really begun focusing on.

The main benefit that comes with specialization in the sub niche (and building an audience that follows you to read your content because it is helpful to their everyday life) is the fact that they are loyal to the brand that you have created.

So, now that I know that I have an audience of people who are willing to buy products created by my company as long as they make their lives easier, and I have a list of product ideas, all that's left is creating them (which is kind of what one of my great inspirations, @). That's what I'll be focusing on in the coming months, which should push me well past my goal of $200 in income per day. Right now, all monetization is done through affiliate links.

Because of that, I average around $100 per day in income. That's halfway to the goal, in six months.

You may notice, my traffic is just about 50 to 60,000 visits per month. Unfortunately, that is under the 100,000 visits per month goal (as I want to put Ezoic (edit, not Ezoic, Adthrive) ads on the site). But, I'm beginning to see exponential growth as many of my articles published about six months ago have left the sandbox, resulting in a massive increase in earnings from these affiliate links, as well as rapidly growing traffic numbers every day.

So we've gone from $0 -> $100 per day in 6 months. 200 visitors to 1600-2000 visitors per day. And, a known brand in my sub niche that people will actually recognize. DR from maybe the 20s to the high 40s (peaking at 53).

I will be focusing on offering my own digital products (somewhat inspired by the @Kikerinka journey), as discussed above, in the coming few months which should boost me to over $200 per day, even without any increases in traffic. However, because content is beginning to leave the sandbox, my traffic is growing pretty quickly, so I may be able to hit this through just affiliate sales. Pretty cool.

These digital products (most, at least) will actually be sold through another website, under another brand name, but everything on the “authority website” will be pointing to highly optimized landing pages. I'm doing this, so I can eventually sell that digital product brand if I want to.

In the coming few weeks, I'd like to figure out a way to offload my content creation, which was something I was trying to do six months ago and never got to, and solely focus my energy on the digital products, so I'm going to mess around with keyword research and see if I can find a writer. The unfortunate truth of this matter is that much of my content is very technical, my followers know me personally, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a writer who will be able to create content for this audience that is valuable, and also affordable to me.

The one saving grace here is the fact that I have a decently large budget now because of the income generated by the website, so I will see if I can work something out. If you have any specific questions, feel free to let me know below, and I will try to update this thread after the digital products launch.

Something else that may be worth exploring is focusing on the backlink profile, as I simply have not done anything other than purchasing links in the beginning of this journey and a bit of HARO stuff. we will see how that pans out, but I want to focus on the content more than the links as that is what is driving my profits right now, and it's working for me.

Man, you are doing fantastic! Great to see that you go for your own digital products.
BTW, the drop in your impression/clicks is just a typical Christmas/Holiday drop--I had the same one, and many people as well, it's typical for informational content niches (and some other niches as well).

From what you write, you already have around $50RPS ($100/2K daily visits) with affiliate, which indicates that the buying intent in your niche is quite good for informational content (definitely much better than in mine niche), and if you do the things right with the digital products, you may be positively surprised with the income.

GL, and I am looking forward to see you posting more than $200/day soon. You are definitely on a way to make that happen.

Hi OP, thanks for sharing your journey. May I know if you wrote your own content/articles or did you buy them? Sounds like good quality articles! If you bought them, care to share your seller and prices? Thank you!

What a journey, now i will start a blog about traveling in europe right now. Love to see your big steps and want to follow. Maybe we will read us again in my journey thread.

Perhaps I will stumble across it online one day -- that's what I'd love to (travel) as soon as this pandemic is over

Heavy inspiration from you, so thank you 1 million %. I'll keep everybody posted as best I can regarding the products and how I'm doing them. I agree, and think that they'll be a big hit. Just need to do them right
So, how much you have spent on links? and how many bought?
In the beginning I spent maybe $500 on links. Not worth it, content is a much better investment IMO. Since them, I have picked up some links via HARO and just writing about things. I'm going to look into them again and see if it's a good idea, but I'd really love to find a content writer instead. So my opinion is $ should go to content first

So this is my issue. I wrote pretty much all 400k words. I can't really buy content because the cost is to high. The $2-5 for 100 words stuff just isn't a value add to the readers and would destroy credibility. I need to find a writer that is lower cost for my niche. I've been looking but just can't find any
