180k/month but only making $1000 via adsense

I have couple of websites. 2 of them get 90k visits each per month. I started them in the beginning of 2013 and they have been making about 1k a month from adsense ever since. I was really very excited about it at the start, I still am. But I see no growth. It does not go any higher than that. I have 7k+ email subscribers and a FB page well over 39k fans. I have healthy G+ pages too.
I tried affiliate marketing but not much income there. I know the problem here is the niche or maybe not.

I'm looking for some suggestions from kind people on this forum to help me better monetize my sites. Thanks in advance.

Did you try amazon if your most fans are female amazon and gift card cpa could do well.
What kind of affiliate you tried with your website dating,email,zip ?

I tried affiliation for dating websites through CJ with a post called top 10 dating websites. That did not convert very well. I also have card creator but the per download value is 50 cents. To this day whichever new email subscribers I get per week, I send them these offers.
 
Have you split-test ad types (image vs text), ad sizes as well as ad locations?

I have tried all the possible variations. Right now I have a leaderboard and a medium rectangle. They perform well and get $1000. I get a good CTR too and CPC usually is around 36 cents. Also, visitors are mostly from US, UK, Can, Phili and India. In December due to holidays I made like $1,300.

There's got to be a way to make more money.

I know when I first started making this much I was on top of the world believing that I would make more. I still am thankful to almighty God for all the good things he has done for me and will always be.

However, I am in Canada. If I was in India (My country of origin) this would have been way more than enough. But this is less than basic wage in Canada. I still believe that I can make more.
Just that need a bit of guidance from an experienced IM mentor.
 
Your ad placement is definitely messed up. With a site getting about 500 visits a day i'm making $600 a month purely from adsense. Make sure that you're optimizing for mobile and tablets so that you can take advantage of those visitors. I make a majority of my money off of mobile visitors.
 
If you feel that it can't growing anymore then why not use the income you have now to build another website?..

I bet you are because it all depends on the niche. In fact I have another website in the dental niche which has a cpc of above $1 and makes good amount of money with about 30-40 visitors a day. Its just the niche which is quotes related which gets 36 cents a click. That makes all the difference.

I have made couple of more sites but they are not doing very well in terms of visitors. Another thing is that I need to keep updating all these current websites with weekly posts written by myself which takes a lot of time. I have about 6 in all. I am leaving the ones which do not do well and experimenting with new ones.
But I think these 2 which get so many visitors every month have a higher capability than what they are making currently.

No, I don't think they have reached their limits and do believe that they can make way more than that. I just need a some good ideas and that is what this post is all about.
Btw, I do have other websites which are not doing very well in terms of visitors.
 
Don't forget you have a following. You have a constant stream of followers and a e-mail list. Promote a new website/products anything.
 
you can try some other networks like infolinks. by the way how you gain so much traffic? can you give me some instructions?thanks
 
try cpa marketing with a list like than,email zips for $1 per lead seem to rack in a nice steady $50-100 a day
 
try to change your ad placement / maybe web design sometimes it plays much
btw what the most traffic from ? us ?
 
Keep writing more articles and try to start funneling hot topics from websites like Facebook and Twitter. Also start sending out surveys to your list to see what their interests are and learn more about the people you're selling to. A mailing list is valuable, but a list of emails that you know a lot about is priceless. Start connecting with them and learn more about them, gender, interests, lifestyle, age? Also experiment with different types of advertisements in different locations, see what converts best.
 
Depending which countries your traffic comes from try the following. Put affiliate ads for chocolates, Shari's Berries, lingerie and dating sites. Try split testing with different ads for different companies and go with what works.
