Koddos - power issue?

Who was it before and who is it now? Maybe they just changed business account

It was always a business name and now it is a person first+last name.

And around a month ago they stopped the subscription for the server and now only accepts manual monthly payments.

Who does that? It is clearly not a good business practice (manual payments vs subscriptions).

Have you searched their name online to see if anything suspicious comes up? Possibly a new owner that doesn't understand paypal. Open a ticket with koddos and ask why they don't do subscriptions anymore, it'll be interesting to see what their answer is

Something is off ... in last 2 days I got notifications about "maintenance" / downtime needed of my server(s) on 3-4 different providers. One mentioned a kernel security update is needed. These are is in UK, NL, Germany. All at once is a strange pattern.

Anyone else getting these issues/notifications?

I think eider LE are looking trough large number of servers OR there is a zero day currently being exploited and downtime is eider caused by exploits directly or by ISP's attempts to patch things.

Turns out I was right, "yeeey" , critical vulnerability (rated 9.2 out of 10) was just anounced today in PHP, affecting ALL versions, remote code execution. This is HUGE!

This has nothing to do with the koddos downtime, you're a weirdo.
Maybe, but we don't know that yet. Maybe Koddos was "lucky" to go down for other reasons while the PHP vulnerability is being exploited.
But the fact that servers from 3-4 ISPs were going offline all in same day many days ago was 100% related tot he PHP vulnerability. They were eider patching things or were attacked.

Take your meds, the issue with koddos only happened at equinix am4, servers I had in other locations were not affected.

The php vulnerability you are describing is very important (I just finished updating all my servers) it is 1000% NOT related to the 3 week koddos downtime.

So then Equinix had a notification or status page mentioning the 3 week downtime affecting so many servers?

The first + last name I see on new PayPal account doesn't come up when I search online. I did ask Koddos why subscription was cancelled, they just said I need to setup new one because of changes at PayPal. New paypal button is not a subscription thou, by PayPal you can now only do one-time payments to a new receiver.

Actually ... the new paypal pay button is set so you pay just for current invoice but from what I understand you give receiver the right to take money from PayPal, it is a billing agreement that can trigger payments from their end but not a subscriptiuon. It shows up as active agreement in PayPal and payment can be triggered from Koddos site. I think these are called "Pre approved payments".
