After working on websites for 5+ years, I have learned that there is no single solution that works for every website.

Some websites need better development, some need better content, and some just need a few technical issues fixed.

Working with both development and SEO has also made me realize how connected they are. A small technical issue can affect SEO, and a change made for SEO can sometimes affect the website itself.

I used to focus mainly on fixing the problem in front of me. Now I try to understand why the problem happened before making changes.

That small difference has probably helped me more than any particular tool or framework I have learned.

Still learning new things from every project.

The part about understanding why the problem happened stood out to me. A lot of people just start changing things without finding the real cause first. Do you usually find the real issue quickly, or does it take a few tests to figure it out?
 
SEO and development go hand in hand fixing one without checking the other can easily create new problems..
 
Checking the website from both the user and SEO side can save a lot of unnecessary changes later.
 
Been there, got the t-shirt with sites that tanked just because some sneaky redirect or busted schema flew under the radar. I usually start with a site health check using basic free tools to sniff out anything funky before going down a rabbit trail of SEO tweaks. Even tried a few weird combos of hosting and plugins over the years and learned to keep backups-on-backups just in case.

Sure, becuz I have faced the same thing too. focusing on just the symptom without paying attention to the root cause will lead to some other issues in SEO/development.

I totally agree with your statement. I have seen website which were required to addres a completely new issue after resolving the old issue becuz the core issue was never identified.

I totally agree. sometimes it’s just small modifications that create serious SEO problems becuz the root cause of the problem was not solved at all in the first place.
 
That “find the cause before fixing the symptom” mindset is what separates random changes from real troubleshooting. Same applies to SEO, dev, and even conversion issues.
 
Totally agree, SEO and development are much more connected than people often realize, and fixing the root cause usually works better than just treating the Symptom.

I have experienced that myself. there may be some minor development issue at times that is causing the SEO problem, thus making it more valuable to understand the problem before making any change

i believes that this was perhaps the most important lesson learned. I have managed to break websites because of trying to fix one SEO problem without checking how it affects the other things on the site.

Usually it takes a few checks. sometimes the issue is obvious, but other times you have to test a few things before you find the real cause. I try not to change too much at once because that can make things harder to track.
