Cloaking on Instagram: Landing Page vs Direct Link for OnlyFans Traffic

I’m currently setting up a cloaking system on a landing page used through an Instagram bio link, in order to redirect traffic to a creator’s OnlyFans account.

The issue is that a direct link ultimately converts much better than a landing page. I’m therefore wondering whether it would be more relevant to implement a cloaking system directly on a direct link rather than going through a landing page, and above all whether Instagram easily detects this type of setup or not.

Absolutely do not cloak a direct OnlyFans link. That’s one of the fastest ways to get the bio link flagged and the account restricted or banned. Instagram is far more sensitive to destination URLs than people think, and direct link cloaking is easy for them to pattern detect over time. A neutral landing page is there for safety. Yes, it may convert slightly worse but it protects the account. Direct cloaked links might work short term, but you WILL get burned sooner or later. Learned this the hard way.

I wouldn’t risk direct cloaking. What’s been working better for us is using a very lightweight single-CTA bio page almost like a direct link, fast load speed, and a clear above-the-fold button so the extra step barely impacts conversion

Direct linking always converts better, but Instagram’s bots have become very advanced. If you use direct cloaking, domains and accounts can get blacklisted very quickly.

I’ve done many experiments, and in my opinion a minimalist one-button bridge page works best. For protection, there are good options on the market like Adspect and TrafficShield. I’ve heard many positive things about Adspect, but I haven’t personally used it yet. For now, I’m using TrafficShield because their bot IP database is quite up to date for IG scanners, and it has been working well for me.

If you’re using burner accounts, you can try a direct link. But if it’s a creator’s main account, a cloaked bridge page is safer for the long term.

If you are asking whether to put a deeplink that automatically would push to phones' native browser (not IGs in-app browser) then i'd advise against it. Few months ago there was a large ban-wave that got few of our long-term accounts banned simple because we had deep linking. Though, what could be done is having an in-app warning saying that the following content is 18+ and then whenever they click 'okay', redirect them to your deeplink with the native browser access.

In your opinion, would traffic from Facebook or Instagram deliver better conversion quality for direct links

Instagram patched the direct link option with long press; you might want to see if there is another link service that allows direct link option.

I'm not sure if I made it in time, but yes, I'll add my voice to those who already mentioned it.

Cloaking a link doesn't bypass Instagram's shadow restrictions. What you can and should review is which landing provider you're using. I won't promote any specific one, but some providers open links inside Instagram's native browser, which is terrible for conversions, while others open them in the user's default browser, which tends to perform much better since users usually have their logins, payment methods, and other information already saved there.

It's also worth reviewing the appeal of the landing page itself. The OF link should always be first and immediately visible. If your provider allows it, I've consistently found that using a short teaser video performs better than a static image.

Beyond that, I'd also take a look at the quality of the bio, wall, and overall presentation of the OnlyFans page itself, since all of those factors can have a significant impact on conversion rates.
