Blogging 4 basic doubts, seniors please guide

Myself Sung Jinwoo, started blogging from past 2 months only on WordPress. Still learning everything from scratch. Seniors please guide on below 4 points

1. Word count , Is 800 words enough per post or minimum 1500 words needed for ranking in 2026?
2. Posting frequency ,How many posts per week is good for new blog in starting phase only?
3. On-page SEO , Which free plugin is best, Rank Math or Yoast? Both confusing for beginner level.
4. Niche selection , Currently writing general tech content. Should I switch to micro niche for faster results?
Not expecting too much, just basic guidance from experienced members will be very helpful.

Word count is irrelevant. How you satisfy the intent to your readers is what matters.

Answer me this, if you're looking for a guide on "How to flush DNS cache in Windows?"

Would you want it prefaced with 1500 words that talk about the history of DNS or do you want a quick answer on the command, and some basic guidance on how to run it?

Stay away from pure informational content. As that's mostly taken over by AI

Just a schedule, where you can be consistent. In my experience, posting frequency is not important, the consistency is. And gradually helps with your crawl budget.

Both are incredible. Pick any one. As a beginner, I'd recommend Rank Math because it has far less paywall.

As a starter, go with micro niche. Since you're showcasing your topical authority to Google. As you gain authority in a particular niche, you can gradually branch out.
 
1) 1500 to 2500 yeah seems a lot but google algo bot lots it.
2)it doesn't matter just don't auto post, google can detect it.
3) rankmath or slim seo (light weight)
4) tech too general micro too narrow. You wanna do a(or few) sub-niche of tech.
 
i think focusing more on consistency than chasing word count. A well-written 800–1,200 word article that genuinely helps readers can do better than a longer post filled with fluff.
 
I would focus on writing helpful and complete articles rather than aiming for a specific word count if a topic is covered properly 800 words can be enough in many cases
 
I usually start with content coverage and search intent because that often explains rankings better than SEO metrics alone. Strong internal linking and topical depth tend to stand out pretty quickly when a site is doing well.
 
Instead of aiming for word count, write clear, understandable, and content-focused articles, and make sure your articles are completely unique by reviewing other articles.
 
1200 words minimum for 2026 post 2 to 3 times per week as beginner rank math free version is simpler than yoast stick to tech but pick one sub niche like phone reviews

My advice would be:

1) Word Count: it doesn't matter for google but the key is to provide truly valuable information that meets readers' intent. Tips: check the key words top 1-3 articles, and study their format, length and headlines etc. It helps you understand what subtopics google are interested. It will gives you a quick win; Don't fluff.

2) Frequency: Again，no specific rules. But it is better to set a fixed date and post regularly. Of course, don't feel panic if you miss a certain date. s The key is to post only quality content instead of AI trash;

3) On-Page SEO: I would go for Rank Math, unless you find it too complicated. Choose easy mode at the beginning.

4) Niche selection: go for Micro niche. Focus on what you are interested in and good at and improve your topical authority, which is no doubt the right way to boost your rank.
 
Focus on a micro-niche with 1,000+ word, high-quality posts 2-3 times a week, and use Rank Math, it's way better than Yoast for beginners.

If I were you, I'd give Rank Math a spin for its easy setup - less hair-pulling for newbies. Micro-niches are gold if you want Google to notice you faster. I saw better traction once I niched down hard instead of writing about everything under the sun. Keeping a stash of drafts handy also helps when life throws a curveball and you risk missing a post.
 
Don't worry too much about hitting a specific word count. Focus on fully answering the user's question, some topics need 800 words, while others may need 2,000+. For a new blog, publishing 2-3 quality post a week is a good start. Rank Math is beginner-friendly and has plenty of free features. If possible, I'd also narrow your niche a bit, as it's usually easier to build topical authority than competing with broad tech sites.
