What's the fastest way to get organic traffic to a new blog?

I've been working on a new blog for a couple of months now and the traffic is pretty much dead. Tried a few basic SEO things but nothing really moved the needle yet.

Curious what actually worked for people here when they were just starting out. Is it mainly about backlinks, content volume, or something else entirely?

It's all about two things: Content + Authority backlinks = Organic Traffic.
Remember if you have average backlinks then authority backlinks won't work for you alone.
You need to be very specific and authentic about your content. Use AI is a tool to arrange not to create.
Quantity of backlinks must not be preferred over quality.
 
I was in that exact phase, posting endlessly without anyone reading. What helped my blog take off first wasn't "SEO tricks", but rather using extremely easy keywords, writing exactly what people were searching for and being persistent for the first few months.

Writing relevant content to the trend works faster and better.
But you need avoid copying others. What you need to do is to read the trending topics, add your valuable thoughts there, craft them roughly, read again and then go for the final touch.
Reading too much shall help you become better and better.
 
I’ve been through that stage where you keep posting and hear nothing back. The real breakthrough for my blog didn’t come from complicated SEO tactics , it came from targeting simple, low-competition keywords, answering real search intent, and sticking with it long enough for the momentum to build.

For new blogs, topical content & consistency usually matter more than backlinks at first. Low competition keywords, strong internal linking, and publishing regularly helped me more than chasing lots of links early on.
 
For new blogs, the biggest thing is usually consistency and targeting low-competition topics instead of chasing big keywords too early. A few solid backlinks help, but publishing genuinely useful content around specific search intent matters more at the start. Internal linking, updating older posts and getting traffic from places like Reddit or Pinterest can also speed things up while Google slowly builds trust in the site.

Updating old posts actually worked better than writing new ones sometimes. Better titles, clearer structure made a noticeable difference.
 
When I started the biggest difference came from publishing content that actually solved specific problems people were searching for not just writhing random articles . low competition keywords helped way more than chasing big topics.

Honestly for a new blog, topical content + consistency worked way better for me than chasing backlinks early on. I started getting traffic once I posted low comp long-tail stuff regularly and internally linked everything properly.

Backlinks help, but without enough content Google barely cares at the start. Give it a few months and keep publishing.
 
Alot of people publish random articles and wait for traffic but what worked for me was creating content around very specific search intent. long tail keyword are usually easier to rank for early on.
 
Backlinks (but they need to be very quality backlinks, because it's easy to get backlinks but getting quality backlinks is something else) and quality content. Volume isn't a factor but of course you need to be consistent

That's a really good point about low competition keywords. I think a lot of beginners including myself jump straight into trying to rank for big terms and then wonder why nothing moves.

How long did it roughly take before you started seeing some real momentum.

Have you tried PBN & Guest Post for better traffic or your website niche if not kindly try these, & you can try event blogging.

Honestly consistency and topical focus helped more for me than trying random SEO tricks early on
