If you sign up to a blog catalog type site they often want you to put a bit of code onto your site, this is either in the form of html or a little widgity thing that makes a button or badge on your site... If you don't do this, they won't accept you into the catalog...? My question is how...

I think I have a canonical issue going on on my site, and I want to try and fix it. But I'm a bit confused... I've been doing a bit of research on it, and I think I need to install a .htaccess file. I have no idea how to do this... Though, perhaps I can just use 301 redirect? I don't know...
