Same IP, linking bad?

OK, so here's the scenario... we're all busy linking to social media sites, and social bookmarking, submitting articles and pinging. Maybe you're writing Press Releases, posting up blog content or even making videos...

... and ALL of them link to your same IP address...

isn't this a bit of a red flag for the big G?

It shouldn't be a problem as Google does not own most of those sites,

you do have a problem if you gather links from several sites which are all hosted on the same IP, as google tracks all the links via a network of sites and then can drop you or if you have WHOIS data showing too.
 
if you create multiple accounts on the same site, the same ip can hurt you, thus, one of the reasons you see everyone referencing proxies in this forum.

If you don't do mass link building, invest in a service like Anonymizer Total Net Shield. It gives you a different semi-private proxy each day and is only around $99/year.
