@trendkill84 I know you said you suck at writing. Unfortunately for most things IM related you need to be convincing enough in what you write. There is a free code for grammarly on here as that could help level the playing field for you. As for YouTube don't see it as the sole means of getting money just a platform. If you want sustainability from your skills Id recommend by a domain in your name, get an IG, Facebook, Twitter, and interlink them together. There's so much money on the Internet it is outrageous. This way you take on clients as you grow, better your writing chops and write a cook book as it'll cost you nothing, just learn that if you are good at what you do it is worth building your brand.

There are tons of "cheats" to get your numbers up to increase your value but its all on you. The question is are you looking at it like a sprint or a marathon...

If I were you I wouldn't start from scratch if I had 15 years knowledge in an area I enjoy that much.

I am using Grammarly right now and it's amazing! I have no other choice but to go the distance. I can't work anymore so all I have to work with is my computer. I want to build something that generates a good living for me and my family. I want my pride back!

Tutoring, writing, tons of stuff if you really need money and have the time can be nice earners. But if you want long, nice, easy money, set up some videos, sites, etc...

If you choose to build a blogging website then I'd suggest you to go to namecheap and grab the cheapest hosting and a nice domain name. Try to come up with something catchy and short preferably in the cooking niche. This is your initial investment and cost you $20 in the first year.
The next step is to install wordpress then select a theme and install wp recipe maker for wordpress.

There are shit ton of other things to do after this but you can start blogging and learn the rest on the go. However, don't expect to get money out from the site until you can get some traffic either by paying for it or by other methods.

Ok, definitely check out mturk (reddit.com/r/mturk) - if you do that + use the hitscraper plugin - essentially filtering out anything that's not worth your time, you'll end up with quality hits. Surveys are good, so are quick transcriptions and voice recordings. But if you really want to do the virtual worker bit, finding people on BHW, etc... will pay out more in the long run.

If you don't mind writing, that can pay BIG money.

Well you basically talk to them about whatever - just a regular conversation. I guess you could even talk about cooking. It's to improve their English skills.

Why note throw a site together and start a private chef company? You could outsource to friends and contacts in the industry, justify high prices with impeccable luxury-styled branding (copy brands like Gucci, Valentino, etc...). How to find customers? Networking; once you find that first client he'll tell his rich friends who will also want a private chef. How to find your first client? Make a killer site which sells for you. Compile a list of 500 rich people / entrepreneurs in your area. Call each and every one. I'd bet a dozen or more would respect a hungry entrepreneur looking to start a business and would give you a chance. A good point to focus on: make sure you can guarantee the chefs you employee are harmless, won't steal, and what have you. These rich guys are trusting you with their family and they will need to feel 1000% sure they can trust you and those you employ.

I'm trying to build recipe site myself.

Just make a blog, put some cool recipes there, and use Pinterest for traffic. join some big Pinterest group boards and you will have nice traffic already. The key is to have high-quality pictures and tall pins.

Not to mention Facebook, Reddit, Instagram and Stumbleupon. Even Google plus and Twitter.

I'm not sure from your posting if you are still able to cook, but if you are , I'm sure there are people who would be glad to hire a former chef to cook for them at home for regular or special occasions or you can prepare it ta your house and deliver it! You could put a simple ad on Craigslist in your area, and I'm sure you'd get some responses!

Because that's how you build a core audience and then expand. Perhaps something like "watch me as I teach a random noob cook an amazing breakfast for his girlfriend", or more wide like "gluten-free, low cal, super tasty Y in 30 mins tops".

Don't forget you can also go local, you could run classes in your area, tie up with local restaurants. They all have quiet days and could do with publicity. Does your local paper have a cooking feature, if not approach them, it's all about building a fan base

Yea I do that from time to time. I can't do big events but little gigs do help. The main thing is buying catering equipment. My health will not allow me to stand for really any amount of time. My line of thinking was and is I have spent 2500 on my newest computer build and now that I am stuck in front of it I see it as a tool now not a toy like before. It's time for this machine to make money for me. I love food and cooking always have I just can't do it any longer professionally. At this point, the best thing I can try and do is surround myself with people much smarter than I keep my mouth shut and my ears wide open.
