Will Addon domain instead of a new hosting plan(namecheap) effect SEO?

I already have another domain hosted on my namecheap plan. It is not using much resources. I want to host another website (amazon affiliate). Should I add it as add on domain on the hosting plan or should I buy a new hosting plan. I can make the switch when required. Trying to be cost conservative where possible. Also if my primary domain is penalized will the domain hosted on the same hosting be penalized too?

You don't need a separate hosting. Add-on domain is how it should be done. Even if you buy a new hosting account, most probably your second account will still be allocated to the same server.

But for me, if my primary domain is penalized, I would ask the hosting company to change the primary domain to another one without penalized.

I don't know if that affects my add-on domain nor that works, just in case it may.

Btw 90% of websites on the world use shared hosting, you can't guarantee websites on the same server same IP are good, so.....

thanks, i am concerned because the add on domain is still allocated as a subdomain under the primary domain right? Does that leave a footprint?

No problem, we have several hosting accounts with penalized domains and domains ranking perfectly fine in the same account. Addon domains are like the main domain, this subdomain.maindomain.com created for addon domains is just for internal use.

Just make sure to never put any PBNs on the same IPs as you money sites...that's a dzmb way to cut costs.

It is a footprint to some extent. For example, if you use a PBN that links out to 3 money sites on the same IP, that could be a cause for concern. But getting a penalty just because of a bad neighbourhood, nah, that won't happen.

If you are hosting on the grid like at Media temple is safe.
If you use cPanel, hosting multiple sites on the same IP as add on will create a foot print.
If one gets sandboxed, all the addons and the main domail will also get sandboxed.
Never host add on domains in cPanel. Avoid it like plague
