I'll be totally transparent with you guys, if I'm a newbie on BHW then I'm not even born on YouTube. However, I already have my own channel and I learned a few things about on-channel optimization, especially regarding tags selection.

Some friends and I are launching a new channel (funny content) and we are sincerely interested in getting some feedback from you guys.

Feel free to share your achievements, your fails, your tools, your DOs/DONTs and, of course, your best tactics to grow a great quality audience!

My best tip, don't be shy about asking people to subscribe. Make sure every video ends with a subscribe CTA. Jimmy Kimmel has some fantastic video ends like this one:

That's actually a built in feature to YouTube called End Screens. Very easy to do!

Glad I could help. Good luck to you and your friends. One other tip: it might be worthwhile to test out launching on Facebook. Facebook is getting behind video content so hard that you might be able to get some really good reach due to the lack of competition. YouTube is great, but you'll be just another face in the crowd. Just something to think about.

That's a great idea @seo ! Our strategy is not built yet, but we're planning on publishing previews of our YouTube videos on Facebook. Creating a strongly engaged audience on YouTube is one of our main objectives, but doing so on Facebook is also part of our plan.
