I started a niche site (SEO + CPA) in December. The rankings were picking up then all of a sudden it just dropped.

I cant seem to pick it up.

Right now I am building PBN links to add a little diversity since I only have web2.0s and tiers from those.

What do you think could be the problem??

Maybe the problem with your content. As you know about the latest google algo update "FRED". It's targeting the low-quality content. And “Fred Google update” did indeed hit low-valued content sites aimed at revenue generation over the goal of helping their users and readers.

Take your guru bullshit elsewhere. Absolute no real evidence of that, just some illogical correlation from a few sites.

has your traffic actually dropped or is this just ahrefs your talking about. I have a site in ahrefs that had its best month in 5 years and it has a similar chart to what you posted. Those metrics arent always accurate better to rely on traffic as a tell

The traffic has dropped on G analytics and my main keywords are in the 150 to 200 range

Hmmm....have you been using a rank tracker at all? So we can see what your rankings have done in that time frame?

unfortunately no. I was just tracking with Ahrefs

really... So how do you recover?

Just to add to the opinion that this reeks of a penalty. That sharp drop is not normal.

Was this more than 3 weeks ago? Penalties take some time to show up on GWT.

This was exactly one month ago. Is it possible to recover from penalties ?

dam. and I thought I sometimes have bad days..
thanks

OP: lets try and see if you have a penalty.
Do two searches and let us know.

Assuming your url is: domain.com
1: search "site:domain.com" - Just check your site is indexed, the homepage should show up first
2:seach "domain" Now depending on what your domain is, you should be on page 1-3 somewhere.

1. Homepage comes up first
2. Not on first 3 pages when I search the domain with out the .com (I'm assuming thats what you meant)

Atleast your homepage is coming up first on the first search.

With the second search, is your domain without the .com generic? or is it niche like buycheapsandlesonline etc?

For second search the name seems to be common because other domains showed up but with .org .online .info
