I got huge hit by Google on 8th march. After that I have lost almost 80% google traffic. I have 190+ posts(Authority style). So, I did experiment with various posts.(Each logic applied 5-10 posts).

What I did so far:
1) I removed affiliate link from first 200 words.
2) I reduced affiliate link from post.
3) Added youtube video with post.
4) Gave outbound link to some authority site.
5) Reduce keywords destiny.
6) No tags or duplication issues. I checked that.

What I didn't:
1) I have less backlinks and i didn't create new backlink in this month
2) It was difficult to understand which link is harmful thus I didn't disavow any backlinks.
3) I am a big fan of quality content. Thus, I didn't concentrate much on backlinks. I have only forum links and comments links.
4) I have not any pbn links.

My finding:
I am missing quality backlinks. So, this could be main reason of my ranking drop.
I have checked few other websites. They are competitors of my few keywords. I found that who have lots of guest posts they have little to no effect of Fred update. And authority site had not any traffic drop too. That means authority site are getting extra boost from this update.

But, who have not quality backlinks they have lost 20%-50% visitors or more.
I took ahrefs tools help to find out the traffic drop.

So, what's your finding?

Here is my disaster drop details:

That my competition fucked up and my kws increased in rankings

Your site may have spam links and low quality pbn link. You should disavow those low quality links .

Why you are not trying find out that why your competitors drop rank? Did you find any reason of losing rank? Did you check their backlink profile?

I have not any pbn. MY all post comments and forum links from popular website. All website have less than 2 million alexa rank. So, those website get lots of visitors no doubt about that.

Yes, but some of those types of links are frowned upon by the search engine that I don't want to mention.

Hi, Unfortunately I am the same. I'm going to eat the head. I did not get a result what I did.

I have my PBN network and PBN is located on the main web site. Content quality, most of the links are naturally taken as naked url

I can not find anything to do shortly, the site is still sunny from day to day.

This trendy thinking that PBNs are bad is ridiculous.

So what you state is, that instead of good PBN links (that you think would cause a drop), you rather build shitty blog comments and forum links and are surprised you got hit? You got it the other way around buddy.

Where has BHW come to...

ex client bombed his site with 20k comments from 2000 RDs... 90% no follow.
his site didnt even got a DENT on 8th..
some of my pure white hat sites dropped dramatically after 8th...
and came back one week later.

this whole "i fixed 33 things out of panic" though, makes me laugh.

at least fix ONE thing, wait 21 days. see if so helped.

I have just waited the storm to pass, I didn't do anything and i saw that websites started to rank up again

Is there a thread with info on this new algorithm?

1) I removed affiliate link from first 200 words.
2) I reduced affiliate link from post.

What do these mean? did they help?

5) Reduce keywords destiny.

That's what I'm playing with right now. To start 'fresh' I removed all keywords from the post that was affected by the update. It tank to about 50. So I've added some keywords, about 0.2 density. Looks like it is starting to recover. So yesterday I've increased keywords density from 0.2 to 0.4% I'll wait a couple of days to see if it'll bounce back higher.

So, you just reduce keyword density and start to recovering? Did you any other things? How much time took to recover after that change?

You did not explain anything what you fixed? What you think which fix worked for you?

if your keyword 'best portable chair'.
are you reduce only exact keyword ('best portable chair')

or you reduce word 'best', 'portable', and 'chair' too?

I don't do anything else because I don't have any ads, I do have affiliate links but not on the top of the page. The post is 6k words and well written Besides, I have other pages with more or less the same amount of affiliate links and they rank on 1st page of SERP. I don't think that affiliate links are the problem (in my case). When I change my keyword density I usually wait a couple of days. Right now I'm at 0.4% density and got back to 20th position for most of the keywords related to that post. (I used to be at 10 and 11 best) I'll leave it as it is for another few days. If I won't see any improvement, I'll bump the density to 0.6%.

I have another post that is a puzzle for me. Half of the keywords related to that post lost ranking and half are ranking between 1 and 3 place. See screenshot. Based on that I strongly believe that this update has more to do with onpage SEO than anything else.

If my keyword was 'best portable chair' I'd probably got rid of the best and have 'portable chair' once or twice even if my post was 5k words and use 'it' or chair whenever I have to. But this is just a guideline as it has to nicely fit into what's written on your page and make sense. Overall my goal was to 'dilute' keyword density to a bare minimum.
