Guys: Kindle is the Ticket!

Fundamentally you are trying to get readers to signup directly to your site, typically some free content in exchange for their email address does the trick. Then you can promote directly to them.

Then it becomes a question of promoting your site. There is no 1 sure way of doing that, social media, seo, youtube etc all work it is just a question of what works best for your niche.

Good post even if it was from 2 years ago kindle is still not saturated. Might give it a try!

Any $15.000+ a month publishers (in non fiction preferably) that wanna join a mastermind? We got a slot open. We also do some small talk about other income streams every week for two hours.

Success isn't based on luck! I'm writing into this thread since I've started with CS/Kindle publishing in May 2014. I've documented when I reached my first 1,5k/month (it was in my second month), when I hit 5k (6 months later), when I made my first 100k+/year (2015) and so on. Additionally I've founded my own publishing company in 2016, registered different brands, had several TOP 500 books but also one TOP 100 book in France. I'm working 24/7 without weekends, if I'm not working actively I'm learning, I can count on two hands when I left my home during the last 6 months (and this is no joke). So no, it's definitely not based on luck. And it's also not based on fake reviews, generic books written by cheap freelancers or a marketing team. I don't use any special software or hidden keywords etc. I'm just doing what's necessary to do.

I know I'm diving deep here, but I have to say this comment really inspires me. You've got an amazing work ethic. Thank you for the information shared here, definitely what I need to kick myself into a higher gear.

I really like this idea!
Have you ever considered enrolling in one of those "print when sold" publishing companies where you can actually sell paperback copies and they print them when they're sold and ship them out for you? I'm guessing a $4.99 book on Kindle could go for $12 if it was a paperback. People seem to pay more for paperback (however it would cost more to get it printed and shipped).

Although I'm not a $15,000 a month publisher, if you can find another spot in the mastermind you can't go wrong adding me. I spent probably 8 hours a day thinking and learning about business opportunities and try to find any new way I can about passive income streams. Let me join! Skype - Robrousejr7

Wow I am amazed this thread is still going. I came across it when it was first created, but I did not keep up with it. And look at where it is now. Bummer than the OP has not come back to give us new updates. But I love the advice by pinger.

better yet, buy cheap content from ghost writers and sell them as your own on kindle.

That might have worked in the early days when Kindle was still a baby, not anymore. Readers want top quality books for their dollars. The last thing you want to do is piss readers off because they 1 star the heel out of your books.

In fact there are groups on the Kindle forum solely dedicated to this work. If your crappy books get posted by one of these members, your book will never see the light of day again.

If you are going to self-publish books, it best to publish top quality otherwise forget it.

greate post how any pages your book have

That will depend on the niche you want to self-publish for. Certain niches can take books as short as 15, 000 word. While others require books no less than 100, 000 words.

Read the entire thread. It is so worth it.

Maybe this can help beginners:

When Kindle was new, there was a high demand but a low offer. At this time you could write books with 10 pages and be sure to make sales. Over the time the competition increased = The quality increased because everyone wanted to be the best and get the most out of it.

We (who are in this business for years) had the big advantage to "grow up" with the market. We were able to create shitty books, make mistakes, improve our quality (because we don't know it better at this time) but still made money the whole time.

Everyone has to learn how to analyse the market for niches and keywords, how to format a book, how to write a good product description etc. and will definitely make mistakes. The problem is that you'll earn no money during this "learning time" because the market has a high quality standard today. It takes time to reach this standard and if you don't give yourself the time you'll end up like these people who say: "Kindle is dead. It's not working anymore."

That's stupid because there's more money in this game than ever before. It's not working for them because they don't meet the quality standard. Nothing else.

What I've explained above happens to ALL new business models with the time. At the beginning it's very easy but it's getting harder with the time. Then you can jump to the next "method" but with this mentality you'll never get the big sums. The book business is extremely simple but hard to master. I mean, you can count on two hands which things are necessary to do to earn money in this business (niche, keywords, formatting, description, price, cover etc.) Now take a look at other businesses eg. a website + digital product + email marketing etc. There are tons of things you have influence on, so this is much harder for a beginner. If someone is not able to master Kindle (where the things are obvious), how would he be successful with other businesses (where you have tons of adjusting screws)?

Conclusion:
You should never treat Kindle like another method to make money but like a serious business to earn money. It's really no magic - it's a decision (to do what's necessary to do to be successful in this business).

I got some private messages and want to talk about my definition of quality.

When I talk about quality I don't mean just the interior of the book, the formating, description, cover etc.

An example: For me quality begins with the right choice of the penname. Let's say I want to publish a book about superfoods. I would take a female author because women are caring more about their health than men (just my opinion). Superfood is a very modern topic. That's the reason why I would choose a modern name. I think 28 is a good age for my autbor (young enough, modern, creative but also old enough to perceived as an authority). Then I would choose a good profile pic for my author. She has to look healthy without make-up. If she looks to good I would put some redness on her skin with photoshop. If the pic looks too professional I would use a blur filter, reduce the color saturation etc. Maybe I would add a date 11-2-2017 to the pic (so it seems to have been taken with an digital camera). At the end I would write the biography. EVERY sentence must have a reason! Eg. I would never choose a random hometown for my author. I would search on the Internet which cities/regions are well known for health (or where you have a lot of nature). And so on...

As you can see, everything I do has a reason. I don't create the things separately (profile pic, cover, description, title etc.) For example: If I have set up my author profile and want to create the cover ....let's say most of my competitors in my superfood niche has a "superman sign" on the cover ...I would never use it because it would not match with the personality of my author. Or let's say "Superfood Kickstart" is a great keyword ...I would not use it in my title. Another example: I'm able to create an extremely professional and premium looking book cover, very clean, high glossy, maybe with mirror effects etc. ...but it makes no sense if my author is a lovely looking young woman who lives in the nature and loves to catch butterflies in her free time. xd

Everything you do must have a reason. And everything must fit together to produce a "round" image at the end - This is quality for me. Everything else is generic but Uniqueness is what sells.

It's really hard to explain but look at your book from the outside and see the whole image. Don't look at your title and think: "Okay, I have to write keyword 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in my title, because the more keywords I have, the higher is my visibility, the more I'll sell." Nothing against keyword optimisation but if your title looks like spam you destroy your whole image. Then your author profile looks like fake for the customers etc. You have to create everything with very much sensivity (and not just with the dollars in your eyes).

This part right here is so serious. I notice authors are stuffing every possible keyword that they can into their book tiles and it is a huge turn off for me as a customer. It does not inspire me to want to purchase their books. I skip right pass these books in the Kindle store.

IF you are number 1 in Erotica then how much on average would you earn say that ebook is $2.99 and physical book is $9.99?

Firstly, only the top Erotica author and publisher would know the answer to this question.

Secondly, why would that information be useful to you? If you are going to take take the #1 spot, you can certainly do it without knowing the exact number.

Firstly thanks for actually giving a reply to a decent question.

Secondly well, I dont want to waste my very hard earned money hiring Ghostwriters and expensive artist and proofreader editor yet again to get absolute zero back.
