A quick proxy question...

I understand the need for proxies, and that if I'm going to scrape Google, I need Google-passed proxies. If I'm using PIA (Private Internet Access, a VPN), do I need to have anonymous proxies? Apparently in the Automator plugin, I can discard proxies which do not pass the Google test, without testing whether the proxy is anonymous or not.

I could harvest a lot more proxies if I kept ones that pass the Google test - whether they're autonomous or not (since I'm behind a VPN). Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Thats not how it works. In order to be google passed, it MUST already be anonymous. Think that thru, if you had a google passed proxy that wasn't anonymous it would show your IP which would be pointless. So you would have to first know if it was anoymouns before you even tested for google. Else if you try google first and test 4000 proxies to see if they pass google, and THEN test the ones that are google passed for anonymousness (don't think thats a word, lol) and you find 1000 are anonymous, that means you made 3000 requests to google from your own IP.

Which means your IP was blocked by google a long time ago. Plus there are other issues.

So scrapebox must first test for anonymity before it tests against google. So google passed proxies are anonymous by default due to this.

Further, you could just shut down your VPN for proxy testing, or if that is not an option then it is what it is.

I'm trying to use the manual poster in scrapebox and I keep getting the 'Authentication Required' popup telling me that the proxy required a username and password.

I've got that un/pw setup properly in scrapebox, as far as I know (I'm using an IP:port:un:pw format), and when I test it in scrapebox to confirm, the proxies are all live. (IP is also authenticated in the proxy server as well)

What am I missing?

Can I use scrapebox to crawl backlinks?

Well yes. But that question could really mean a lot of things, so if you can be more specific about what your asking I could give you a more specific answer.

Scrapebox polls for that box like every 10 ms or something crazy fast so you should never see it from scrapebox. But Scrapebox is forced to use internet explorer rendering engine for manual poster (IE rendering engine sucks basically, or rather my opinion would be that IE sucks, lol).

So anything you have going on in IE could cause an issue, any addon, any proxy settings any anything. So try disabling all the IE addons and make sure you don't have any proxy setup in IE (scrapebox should overwrite the proxy, but can't hurt to check).

But you could really just skip this entire issue if you just remove the username and password from the proxy and let it be ip authenticted, because that won't ask for a user/pass box then and you will skip the entire issue. Unless its unrelated to Scrapebox and related to IE.

@loopline

Thanks for answering.

I mean could I use scrapebox to index and crawl backlinks just like onehourindexing, linkclious does...

Could you tell me in bullet points what can I use scrapebox for my SEO campaigns?

Heard many good reviews, thinking to purchase it, but not so familiar with it.

I really do appreciate your time.

You could build some back links to your links to index them, or create some RSS feeds and submit them or use the rapid indexer addon. Scrapebox can crawl thru a site, but Im lost as to how that applies to indexing?

Honestly I can't tell you how you can use Scrapebox in your SEO in bullet points, because the BHW servers probably can't store that much data, and Im not being funny. Its limitless. I talk to people and hear new approaches all the time, sometimes daily and Ive been using it basically every day for 6.5 years now and I learn new approaches all the time.

If you have a specific question about how to do something I can answer that. But I have over 25 hours video on Scrapebox and thats just scratching the surface.

ScrapeBox v2.0.0.83 Released

Fixed a small bug in poster
Added "Grab Files" to Grab/Check"

The new feature "Grab Files" allows you to load a URL, or list of URL's and download the specified files the the pages. This allows you to download files like pdf, exe, csv, mp4, iso etc. You can also crawl a domain multiple levels deep, so if a site publishes a library of pdf files for example you can crawl all pages downloading all the published pdf's.

Indeed, great update. Thanks for the new option of grabbing files.

You can scrape comments with scrapebox, but it won't necessarily be niche related. You can use the article scraper plugin to spin them, if you have that plugin.
Else you can type out a few niche related or copy paste them from somewhere and spin them somewhere online and then put them in Scrapebox.

Scrapebox servers have 100% uptime according to pingdom
http://stats.pingdom.com/vz0wm9714wj5

So that means that something is blocking scrapebox. So you should whitelist in all security software such as anti-virus, malware checkers and firewalls. Further try closing down any uneeded programs and whitelisting in your router.

just bought Scrapebox wondering how long will it take my license to be activated ?

We are just looking for 2 or 3 users who already own ScrapeBox, and have a Mac computer who would be willing to test a native Mac version of ScrapeBox and provide feedback on how it runs, any issues etc. You will get a free Mac license so you don't have to transfer your Windows installation.

Please let us know if you are interested.

@Sweetfunny
I have 2 Macs (laptop and Mac mini). I would be willing to help out if you guys still need people.

greetings - I am on the latest update of scrapebox. It is installed on the same amazon server as the last 2 years. With regular setup, public proxy, i used have to OK result for posting to my own auto approve list. However, i am not able to anymore. can't even create any meaningful AA lisst anymore.

has anyone noticed a similar behavior over the last months or so?

What errors are you receiving when posting? This will give an idea of what's wrong.

Page 1k is so close! I wonder if the number will flip to 1 when it does @Sweetfunny ?

Yes the thread is getting close to 1k, it's the biggest thread on BHW so far. :)
