My friend told me he was a fraud victim. He saw a FB ad with cheap Timberland shoes. Only a few hours later the website was down.

There're many websites with a same look but different domain names.

Suppose it depends on details used when paying for hosting and domain but yeah they could be traced via the payment method they used probably

Have you checked Whosis for the sites ?

Even if the sites are down, check WayBackMachine there might be details on there as to which payment processor was used.

Of course, that was the first thing I do, but they use Privacy Protection. The use API/Non-hosted payment gateway for processing credit/debit cards.
