I'm not referring to PPC - that's totally legit.

I'm talking about those sellers on Fiverr, and even on here who advertise fake adsense-safe traffic. Well, obviously if they're fake, they're not going to click on ads, or fill out any cpa offers, etc. I just feel like it's quite literally throwing money down the drain.

Can someone enlighten me?

I think the only reason to buy traffic is to inflate your Google Analytics stats so when people try to flip a site they can show that the site has a lot of traffic. This is my take on that.

you have the point sir :) well obviously no other answer than that except for the proof that @nanohits said.

Some people do it because it supposedly has a positive effect on your SERPS, especially when you are just starting off and the site is not even in the top 300 pages.

I think Google knows which places they are coming from and they sure do know which are bots and which are fake. In fact Google may even punish those sites. Buying fake traffic is not going to help in rankings. Not that easy to fool search engines these days.

those that think it to get rich with clicks are mad
And need help.

Fooling Google with fake traffic days are long gone. Only use is raising the visitors stat.

I never said you could fool Google or even that it works. I said people do it because it 'supposedly' has an effect on their SERPS.

The only SERPS effect you will get is "negative" with fake traffic. Those people deserve to get their site penalized.

But that doesn't mean they are useless. I am actually working on a project where we plan to use them to boost stats.

Damn..am trying to load an honest gif here and its not working! Lol. Anyway, it was not a debate on whether fake traffic can boost serps. The op wanted to know why people do it. And this is still one of the reasons why they do it. Does it work? Probably not. Do people do it? Oh yes they do. I rest my case.

I think the point is does it work? the answer is not probably not but definitely not :)

People who buy the traffic are always either in a hurry or do not want to go through the whole hustle of generating their own traffic. There are good people who have good traffic sources and will be valuable. However, there are this people who are here to exploit others and thus offering the deals that will not have any impact on them. Fake traffic rarely converts.
