Instagram is switching its feed from chronological to best posts first

They could be using facebook contacts and likes to determine how personal your feed is, to me it sounds like they are giving verified accounts and friends top priority

This won't happen as you don't even have to connect your Facebook with Instagram

Most of the guys here are afraid of changes and before thinking of it, they say that this is bad. If you have good engagement on your page, every post you make is going to be the first post your followers see. That could really help with growing your account even more.

First Facebook, now Instagram, next Whatsapp.

I like this as a user, but not a huge fan of it as a business/marketer.

The beginning of the end may have arrived.

This. ^^

As long as you post consistently (ever day) and post GOOD content, you have nothing to worry about.

Facebook (IG) Is just trying to keep your news feed interesting.

Hmm percentage-wise the engagement of my accounts outperform Bieber's pics.....curious if my pics will be higher posted than from Bieber:D.

We just have to post more if we want to get our content. Post 10 pics a day and 5 will get seen no problem lol. Your friends will only post 1-2 a day.

Sucks when you worked so hard and invested so much time and money into a platform then they say "you want your content seen? pay."

No. If I don't engage with your content, you can spam 100 photos and I'll never see one of them, because the 100 other accounts I engage with are on top of you.

This algorithm is based on individual preference, so if I follow Justin Bieber, but never engage with his content, he'll never reach my top spot no matter how many likes he gets!

Small business will even do better, remember if they follow you and Justin Bieber, but never likes his photos, you'll appear on top. He won't appear on top because he globally have many likes.

Its actually based on time as well. The first 3-4 photos will photos that you may have missed from 12 hours ago. Then the next 5 or so you'll see the latest ones then a mix other things. Read the NYTimes article.

Look on your facebook feed. Its its mix of engagement, time and a lot of other things.

Which why I say upload 10 a day they'll most likely see your content in you spread them throughout the day.

Alright, I give you that one. But, that doesn't change anything from the way it is now. If you post one photo now, and your follower is not online before 12 hours later, he'll never see your photo as it is now. If you post photos every 3-4 hours, then yes, then chances your follower see one of them increase. With the new algorithm I see it as I only post once a day, I have a higher chance of getting seen by my engaged followers (I don't really care about those that just follow me for the numbers)

yeah this might work out well. but it's probably one step towards throttling just like fb. short-term good, long-term not too optimistic.

Not bad at all.. i guess us with bigger pages just have to be a lil more active not a big problem..

If you think this will be "the end" you wouldn't succeed in the long run anyway...

I'm expecting a new app to come out soon with the promise "we wont implement a strange algorithm later on!"

Depends how you use this opportunity.. I think it's more good than bad for most of us here manipulating engagement since 199.. xD
