A couple years ago I purchased a expired domain with 35 DA and most importantly it had a very strong link profile with branded anchors.
It was the type of domain that could be used in any niche because the brand name was very general, so I inherited this name.
I also inherited the authority of this domain which gave me an immediate advantage in the SERPs.
So what's my problem?
Well, all along, it just never felt like MY brand name and I've decided that I want to migrate the site to a domain with my own company name that I've came up with.
BUT I want to bring the authority of the expired domain with me so I can continue to rank where i do now.
With that said......
QUESTION: If I do a permanent 301 redirect from old domain to new domain, will the new domain also permanently inherit the old domain's authority in the search engines? Or would I have to expect a temporary drop in rankings until I establish the new domain?
