Ask Any Mass Emailing Questions

Hi Smack

Could you kindly send me a sample mail of any offer of your campaign..just to make an idea on how is this working...at the end on email marketing its all about how catching all this mails are.

Thank you!

A newbie question related to email marketing.

I understand you collect email addresses from various sources and send emails with affiliate links? How much money can you earn from this, at how many email addresses you send and how often? Thanks

Lot's of questions since over the last few days.. Let me catch-up.

What do you recommend to mass mail SMPT wise and client wise? Also what do you find a typical CTR rate to be in your emails and how can I optimize an email to get the best results? Thanks

I've covered SMTP quite a bit in this thread so I'll just list my current 2 favorites: Sendgrid and Amazon. TEAR just got a new tracking feature for CTR so I am still refining my CTR #. Atm old leads are very low but once a convo is started it is very high. Live leads are always high. With the right filters you're looking at over 60%. I would optimize your first email to be as simple as possible to get through all spam filters. Then bring in the cavalry.

Mate what mass mailing software are you using? and how many emails do send daily?

TEAR and Getresponse atm (depending on goal) - have used BHAR, Interspire, Aweber, and Bat in the past. Have tried many more. Send roughly 10k / day atm. Nothing crazy. The great part is with TEAR you can email with all legal requirements BUT still have insane flexibility and that's important. TEAR also just got a new scraper feature which is new and simple but pretty legit. Used to use GSA email spider, it's more adv but it's been over a year now since i've got leads with the GSA spider.

More or less that's the concept. Last year over $100k rev but didn't hit $200k I live well in NYC. I send emails daily, live leads are always better - drip feed old ones is great as well because it's almost 100% profit - so old leads = higher ROI although less rev per k emails.

Thanks for sharing tips.

Edit: For some reason I didn't see that my question had been answered.

How does using TEAR fulfill CAN Spam, I thought double opt in and an unsubscribe link was required?

$200-300 a month could get you a (nice and fast) mass mailing setup.

Here's roughly what I am paying:
Hostgator web hosting + domains: ~$130 + $30 (per domain) / year (privacy protect, name, etc)
SMTP: $70 x (amount) / month
TEAR: $49 / month
VPS: $110 / month (very nice one - aint nobody got time for freezing)

I see that you seem to have a separate hostgator account for $130 per month for the email addresses, and you have a separate VPS at $110 pr month for using TEAR. Why do they need to be separate?

Do you think just using a Hostgator account (with dedicated IP) for the email address, and running TEAR would be OK?

Is pop3 emailing significantly worse than using an SMTP for inboxing? Or is it just the limits on the send limit that is the problem?

Double optin is not required although recommended and TEAR enables you to use an unsubscribe link and footer texts.

BTW how do you get your leads and how do you clean them?

Answered this many times. Please read above or PM me if you have additional questions.

I use a VPS so my emailing runs 24/7 and has it's own unique IP. HG is just to host email addresses and domains. You can run TEAR direct on your computer but that limits your mass emailing insanely. You really wont inbox if you email from your POP3 via your HG IP. Not just limits HG sets but without a 3rd party SMTP, inboxes will just think your spam.

Do you know of any affiliate for email marketing that pays per click on link in an email?

Firstly, I appreciate the level of detail you are providing, and the patience for all questions.

I've spent the last couple of months collecting a massive amount of verified email addresses to promote my brand and our regional products(nothing exciting, but we have a very broad demographic). While I'm very good at collecting email addresses, I'm realizing now that there is a steep learning curve to use the tools mentioned above and start getting results. I want to get things moving quickly over the next couple of months, and am not sure if that is enough time.

My main concern is that by promoting the brand I will end up black listing our domain if used for mass mailing campaigns. My initial questions are the following:

1.) Is there a safe way to drive traffic to a site without being blacklisted? (do you use alternate domains and redirects?)
2.) Where can someone learn more about revenue sharing and how this works? Is there a typical percentage paid per conversion? and what is qualified as a conversion?
3.) How do you find reliable partners to drive traffic with targeted email list (either ones that I provide or ones that people already have)?

Thanks in advance. I am learning more in one day than I have in the last 2 months.

Is there a good and cheap service that will mail to your purchased list? Seems like a lot of problems to run your own email server.

We'll you can send them straight ads with opt-out forms or replicate live conversations to drive the lead in the proper direction. TheSlug has some great videos here for that.

I always recommend sendgrid or Amazon web services. For the amount of relays you can send with a dedicated IP they are top. I keep my server overly simple so I don't stress myself out. VPS + TEAR + SMTP is all I need to mass mail properly.

Hi Businesssmack,

Excellent thread created and useful info.

Do you have contact lists for UK B2B to send to as we have a range of services we are looking to promote initially in the UK, then other countries.

Can you PM me as I tried to PM you but couldn't due to not having 15 posts.

James
